"H2SH" with Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee Part 5! Batman versus the Bat-Family! Whose side are you on?
After a four-month wait, Batman #162 proves the H2SH arc is finally hitting its stride with genuine forward momentum and deeply personal character confrontations. Jim Lee's dynamic artwork elevates what could feel repetitive into a visually striking showcase of Bat-Family dysfunction. Read Full Review
Overall, it has some good moments, but this issue feels like it doesn't follow up on the vibe of the Bat-family now and who knows when the next issue will come out. Read Full Review
Batman #162 brings Hush back with all the spectacle you'd expect from Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee... and all the flaws, too. The story may stumble over contrived conflicts and thin character logic, but Lee's artwork is so jaw-dropping it practically carries the issue on its shoulders. For fans of big, loud, gorgeously rendered Bat-drama, it's still a visual feast worth the wait. Read Full Review
That said, Loeb doesn't really move the narrative along greatly in this issue. Instead, we get a spandex clad smackdown for the ages. With Batman taking on the various members of the Bat-Family to spectacular effect. Jim Lee certainly comes to the fore in this issue, depicting said action with real class. His muscular Dark Knight taking on his various protegees with a balletic yet brutal style is extremely visually striking to say the least. Seeing our hero being dragged behind Damian's motorcycle is a feast for the eyes. Read Full Review
Batman #162 is easily the best chapter of H2SH thus. That is not saying a lot but given how H2SH has gone so far that is a massive improvement. There is still a lot of problems with how Jeph Loeb writes many characters and all the Hush plot points. But at the very least he gets how to write the Bat-Cat connection to address what is going on with Bruce wayne in this story. That saves this issue so much. It is just unfortunate that Catwoman isn't a bigger part of this sequel to Hush. Read Full Review
Batman #162 continues HUSH 2 after months of delay, which must have been due to Jim Lee's artwork because the script reads as the microwaved remains of a editorial checklist. Read Full Review
Batman #162 is a pulpy, propulsive chapter in the arc with just enough sharp edges to keep you reading, even if genuine surprises are in short supply. If you're after dynamic art and Bat-family mayhem, it's worth your time, even if your heart (and wallet) would appreciate a little more innovation and depth next month. Read Full Review
Batman #162 is a pretty terrible issue, maybe bordering on 'so bad it's good.' There's so much to laugh at and meme here, and Lee's art has a few highlights. Depending on what you want, you might want to pick up this issue just for morbid entertainment but I can't recommend it on its merits. Read Full Review
It's hilarious how bad this comic is.
NOTE: Nightwing and Huntress always work well together.
There is a lot of on the nose monologue and dialogue. Selina asks Bruce if he is five, and he is written as a five year old, all pouty and whiney. It’s been so long since the latest Hush issue that I forgot why they were fighting. This issue did nothing to clear up the issues. I guess Alfred never taught them to use their words.
And apparently Hush had a gun that launches scalpels. I mean we’re bullets not Batman 1966 enough. Hush is now all goofy villain theme and no practicality. And the issues ends with Bats running into the Joker again. Man, I wish I had the Joker’s health plan, going from death’s door to fighting trim in like three hours. It’s been months in real world, but only hours story-wise.
Don’t more
This book is not nearly decent enough to handle a release schedule gap. This issue feels like a big issue of nothing. Wanna know what’s going on? Well you’re not gonna find out in this issue…… or any bat book from the last 20 years because Loeb hasn’t read Batman since the Hush 1.
This story has been delayed for 4 months.... for this. The only thing that is frankly good and consistent is Jim Lee's art. This feels like an alternate Batman or All Star Batman and Robin. Why is he blowing things up? Why are the dialogue and internal dialogue so melodramatic, serious, yet boring? Riddler literally said Nygma Time.
Personally, what DC should have done is after Chip Zdarsky's run ended, then they should not have done this story at all and just "cancel" batman until Matt Fractio comes along.
WTF am I reading. Like seriously. What is this. At least art is still good.
More like "shut TF up", am I right
Pure and utter garbage, the worst Hush 2 chapter yet! The dialogue and narration is so overcooked, melodramatic and completely absurd throughout the story. The art seems rushed and in some panels it’s difficult to tell what’s even happening. The characterizations for Damian, Dick, Barbara and Bruce are waay off the mark from their normal pre-Hush 2 portrayals. Characters show up out of nowhere in exactly the perfect spot they need to be. Loeb and Lee and the editors should all be ashamed of themselves. This book is coming off as a total rush job, despite its tardiness, and a cynical and smug cash grab. In 46 years of reading BATMAN, this is one of the worst issues and wastes of time that I’ve ever read. It’s sad and pathetic, becau more
