Blink and you might miss it, ‘The Flash’ #31 is a tremendously excellent debut from the new creative team. A story full of relatable heartfelt connections as well as a sadly far too relevant, yet enticing, story hook. Read Full Review

    Fanlight Zone - Ken M.

    Mar 25, 2026

Wally West’s post K.O. life turns into a social media mess in this strong opening round. North constructs a layered conflict with many moving parts. Guidry and Lucas balance out the quick action with more dramatic moments. West’s latest challenge is one story you don’t want to let run by you! Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Mar 25, 2026

The Flash #31 is a visually stunning exploration of the Scarlet Speedster's family life that unfortunately trips over its own high-concept shoelaces. While the art team masterfully renders every golden spark and domestic smirk, the plot's failure to address the blatant illegality of its central "hero-baiting" conflict leaves the story feeling hollow. North’s focus on Coriolis forces over coherent social consequences remains a recurring pattern that prevents this issue from being a top-tier recommendation. 6.5/10We hope you found this article interesting. This one already looks like it could be one of the best runs the character has ever had. I had high expectations given that Ryan North was writing and he blew them out of the water.

Interesting. I generally don't like plots related to social media and the internet because I think most writers fail to develop them well enough to create good stories. Here, it's used correctly, the art is good, and the interactions between the characters and Wally's characterization are very well done.

this was a massive step up after Simon Spurrier's flash. I like how this book ties into scientific aspect yet it is easy to understand, and I like Ryan North's writing for Wally West and the kids. The art is also very good. Ryan North is slowly turning into a modern writer that I trust writing after reading his Fantastic Four, and One World Under Doom event.

Wow, this issue was a breath of fresh air! Coming off of Waid’s action-packed KO time travel Impulse opus, it’s nice for this new team to do a reset and tee up the tone and style they intend to bring to the book. Waid helped give the book a needed sales boost after the horrific Spurrier run, and now hopefully North and Guidry can bring in new fans who are looking for something fun and interesting with the Fastest Man Alive. They have an intriguing and clever storyline to launch their run, very meta in fact. People are deliberately throwing themselves in harm’s way and live-streaming it so they can collect money from a mysterious entrepreneur when Flash comes to save them. There’s more going on here than meets the eye, and I’m excited to see more

And just like that we are back to the fun that goes with Wally and fmaily. North is a good choice to pick where Adams left off (and to allow us to all forget Spurrier was ever on the book).

Thank god we have a readable Flash book again! This might be the only interesting social media themed story I've read yet where it presents a really compelling threat where a villain can keep Wally too busy saving people for him to realize what they're up to. North gets the characters and brings the book back to the tone Jeremy Adams perfected.

The constant "I'm no science guy" inner narration while then going on to expand on scientific explanation was jarring and was starting to take me out of issue. Hopefully North shakes this off from his FF writing, otherwise it'll hold back from what could otherwise be a great run.
