This issue has me pumped for the things to come in the next issue, and the arc after that. It will be a shame if this series ends after this arc or even a second arc. There is a lot of potential for these characters to become regular staples of DC Comics. Read Full Review
I plan on following this book continuing forward. It has a great cast of characters, a variety of situations around the heroes, and the freedom to go places we've never seen the "regular" Justice League go. I like that! Read Full Review
New Super-Man #6 closes out Kong Kenan's great origin story with excitement, tragedy, and promise for the future of the series. If you are a fan of Kamala Khan, you will likely enjoy this book. It implements culture and political intrigue into a coming-of-age story about a phenomenal lead character who promises to become even more compelling as the story unfolds. New Super-Man is a winner for DC and a winner for comics. Read Full Review
A really exciting, fast-paced issue that gives you all the Kong Kenan recklessness you've come to know and love. This issue concludes with what might be some growth for the character, but if he stays the same lovable doofus he is now, I'll be okay with it. This comic book is a lot of fun to read, and if you're not on the trolley, I feel bad for you! Read Full Review
Nice way to stick the ending of this first arc. A lot has happened. The characters are very different than how they were in the beginning. And we have new layers of intrigue. I'll say it again. This book might be the best surprise of the Rebirth books for me. Read Full Review
Do yourself a favor and read this arc, and then spread the word to your comic book enthusiastic friends. New Super-Man is my pick for most underrated comic book of 2016 and deserves more attention. Gene Luen Yang has taken a very different approach to the most stereotypical superhero model and created something beautiful. Character introductions don't get much better than this. Read Full Review
New Super-Man offers a great change of pace for the character as his location is fresh and his powers come with intriguing caveats. I'm excited to see where Yang takes this character from here, though the pacing needs some work. Read Full Review
Comic Book Review (9/10) "Amazing"
New Super-Man #6 "Made in China Conclusion"
Writer: Gene Luen Yang
Penciller: Viktor Bogdanovic
Plot: August General in Iron and his government heroes decide that the only way to stop a falling plane that was hijacked by Human Firecracker and his Freedom Fighters of China is destroying the plane with all of the innocent people trapped inside. Now Kenan and his dad race against the clock as a human army controlled by genetically altered Starros also are under Human Firecracker's control. Also, it is revealed that Dr Omen is more than meets the eye...
It's too bad this book doesn't sell better than some of the other Rebirth books because this comic happens to be one of the better Reb more
This was a solid conclusion to a really fresh, well fleshed out, first arc. There are still lots of questions to be answered and what started as a fairly simple concept is now already a well-fleshed out series with interesting characters. This series may appear gimmicky, but it's well-written, engaging and honestly one of the better Rebirth titles coming out right now. Here's hoping this title makes it past the second arc and sees ongoing success.
A very satisfying conclusion to the opening story arc. This comic is fun, like the comics I used to read when I first got into them many years ago. It's also well written and nicely illustrated. I am now a big fan of Gene Luen Yang. Looking forward to the next issue.
It's interesting to note that out of the different Rebirth titles I sampled at the launch, this is the only one I'm still buying six months later. Recommended for all comic book fans!
I almost dropped this book, once or twice, during the early issues of its freshman arc. Because of its ties to Superman (the original, Clark Kent, hyphenless version...a personal favorite of mine) I decided to, at least, finish up the first storyline. Suffice to say I'm glad I did. NEW SUPER-MAN has gotten better with each issue (really...each issue is better than the one before), culminating in a great end to the origin story of Kong Kenan. Amidst some really nice art, good writing and great storytelling is a comic book that, truly exemplifies everything that made me love comics as a kid. It has a certain innocence in its high-adventure that comics, today, don't typically manage to attain without turning off adult readers. NEW SUPEmore
