Amazing Spider-Man #70 is a thrilling and unconventional conclusion to "8 Deaths of Spider-Man," bringing big action, emotional payoffs, and a visually spectacular showdown. The issue successfully balances fun superhero bombast with meaningful character moments, making it a strong send-off before the series resets to #1. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Tyler Davis Mar 26, 2025

The Amazing Spider-Man #70 is a stronger finale than the sum of its parts should have allowed the issue to be. Joe Kelly ends this volume of the title with a theme that inspires nothing but confidence in the web-head's future, even after such a shaky story arc. Ed McGuinness turns in the performance of a career here on art, instilling an even deeper sense of a high-flying direction for the title that should hopefully continue to pull it out of its recent misery. Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez Mar 26, 2025

Amazing Spider-Man #70 ends the 8 Deaths arc with big punches, magical spells, and (almost) all the toys going back into the exact same toy box, leaving a bad taste in your mouth. Joe Kelly's finale is a pointless mess, which doesn't bode well for his upcoming tenure as the main ASM writer. Read Full Review

This is a great end to this arc. Excellent Peter moments. Hom exemplifying love for life is pitch perfect.

The arc had its down moments but this was a great finale. The art makes it an 8 alone.

Despite how this arc has meandered and how much you could argue it didn't need to be a Spider-Man story, I really do appreciate the message overall, especially given what we're living through right now.

    Plot
Spider-Man has the power of Cyttorak thanks to Cyra's sacrifice. He is Spider-naut, and with the help of Juggernaut, he manages to stop Cyttorak's attack, who understood the value of life thanks to Cyra's sacrifice. Doctor Doom chose Spider-Man for this competition to break Cyttorak's unbreakable will.

Peter returns to normal and understands the value of his life and that its fragility is beautiful. He apologizes to Black Cat, MJ, Aunt May, and Shay, with whom he will begin his romance anew.

This arc finally ends. Although it had a good premise, it was longer than necessary. Now this comic is rebooted.

Gotta say, art was phenomenal. And I liked what Kelly's idea was for this and message was heartful So, I can confidently say that if the hack fraud who works for the Spidey office as the main editor doesn't quit by 1000, then I will. The sheer level of incompetence this storyline has showcased has been disrespectful and horrible to see.

Like, way to ruin a nice idea by Kelly. Like what the hell was this storyline. What a waste of time with no consequence

What was the point of Peter moping for three issues, cheating Shay or treating her horribly, breaking up with her and then getting back together. The only thing managed was to showcase what a joke that relationship is and how horribly Shay is been treated. At least sho more

whomp whomp whomp. And just like that, another run ends. The art may be nice at the end, but I really was not a fan on how Spider-Man was treated like a side character. The pacing and story was dragged out too much, the X-Men took the story over, and the villains as well as dialogue weren't engaging or interesting.

For real, this is my definitive end on the main Amazing Spider-Man run. I have come to accept that my interpretations and view on how I want Spider-Man to be are different from Marvel. I don't mind Peter not being with Mary Jane, but he needs to evolve or grow as a character. I don't mind Peter Parker stuck in limbo not being married, but at least make him interesting or likable with solid writing.

    Overall, more

Felt like more of the same. Didn't really have end on anything new. Kind of bummed that Spider-Man is going to keep this writer around.
