VENGEANCE IN THE WASTELAND!
On an alternate Earth ravaged by the multiversal Masters of Evil, Ghost Rider Robbie Reyes has been taken prisoner by the planet's dark wastelords, the brutal War Machines. And what the Rider endures at their hands will change him forever - into the most unbridled
force for vengeance any universe has ever seen. That's unless Ant-Man, Tony Stark and his bunch of ragtag heroes can pull off the mother of all rescues.

This issue is very much about how all hope is lost, but also how Robbie's ability to endure pain and suffering is unmatched. For that, the narrative is a deeply heroic one that builds up the reader's anticipation for, well, avenging. Purchase Avengers Forever #2 to see how far a Ghost Rider can be pushed and also hints at more from Robbie Reyes. That and more scenes with Black Skull's evil awfulness. Read Full Review

Final ThoughtsAvengers Forever #2 would have benefitted from branching plotlines, with Ghost Riders torture sequences periodically switching to see what Earth-818 Ant-Man and his team were doing. By the end of the issue, I was saying Okay, weve got it, the Black Skull is pretty terrible, but Ant-Mans Iron Ants are always welcome. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings

Avengers Forever #2 makes some questionable choices with its narrative as it begins to explore the mystery behind Robbie Reyes' transformation into the Ghost Rider. The next issue promises to unite Robbie and Deathlok with the Invincible Ant-Man and his surviving Avengers, which should deliver on the promise of the series. Read Full Review

Avengers Forever #2 takes some time (maybe a bit too much?) to show you how great and unique Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider is, but it's such an odd way to go about it. The pacing is way off and while the issue looks great, there isn't much here to progress the overall story. Read Full Review

I liked this a lot, even if it's just a bunch of metal shit happening. I'm easily pleased sometimes, it's a problem. I know I deserve better.

Sometimes I fall for Aaron schtick and I know it yet I can't help but enjoy the over the top stupidity and stupendousness of it. This issue was enjoyable! Aaron Kuder's art was phenomenal with great attention to detail here. The guy kills himself on the page and it shows. Carlos Magno blended his art style to fit Kuder's and the jail cell scenes were spot on. The inkers Scott Hanna, Roberto Poggi and Cam Smith all were just tight. Guru-eFX's colors blended it all very well too. This was a great book to feast your eye on.

It's a pretty good Ghost Rider story but, besides Ghost Rider getting tortured, not much happened.

This comic aims for grimdark in the same over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek way as anything in the WH40K mythos. The torture porn does have a point, be it heavy-handed and simplistic: This pain is forging Robbie into something new. The art's impressive, particularly as a collaboration. If the title page didn't tell me, I'd probably never guess this was a team effort. It's another guilty pleasure, like the last issue, but with a refreshingly different flavor of stupid. I guess I'll just have to see how long the variety holds up.
