The extra-sized finale! Can anything stop Nyx from remaking the cosmos in her image? And will an Avenger die in the attempt?
LEGACY #718
Rated T+
In the finale of No Road Home, the heroes' triumphant victory takes shape as an ode to the limitless possibilities of storytelling in the Mighty Marvel Manner. This issue, like the series as a whole, features exquisite visuals and occasionally questionable plotting. Not every development will hit big, but the ones that do - and this issue's climactic fight certainly does! - can be unforgettable home runs. Read Full Review
Weekly series storytelling is a tough needle to thread, but somehow Avengers: No Road Home managed to do it. Though it will surely stand up better as a collected read, each issue of this series has either thrilled, moved, or entertained - and sometimes accomplished all three. I had high hopes for the finale and it more than delivered. Read Full Review
Avengers: No Road Home #10 is a good, not great issue, that wraps things up in the usual "event style" way: a set up for future stories. A soft recommendation. Read Full Review
If you've been reading this weekly saga until now, then the completionist in me says buy it! If you're interested in a beautifully clever stand-alone issue, pick this up. If you're looking for smooth cohesive answers to the story, you won't get them here. However, you will get a well-written take on the human spirit, creativity, and the hope of human character as told by an android. Read Full Review
Avengers: No Road Home is refreshing in its simplicity and is written by people who have a real affection for superhero comics. Sometimes that's all you want from a comic book. Read Full Review
The ten-issue No Road Home mini-series had been a relentlessly sketchy patchwork of a narrative, so its fitting that the end would be as scattered as it is with Vision confronting Nyx in Long Island and an extended epilogue. While its far from a perfect story, clever art and earnestness in the story make the series very difficult to dismiss as a purely commercial exercise. Theres real love thats been poured into this thing. And like any love thats worth anything, its flawed and inconsistent. Read Full Review
Avengers: No Road Home #10 is a solid conclusion to a mini-series that underwhelmed. Read Full Review
It's hard to think of one good thing this finale has going for it. The coloring was pretty good? That's all I got. Read Full Review
Vision defeats Nyx by comprehending the full potential of the Mystery House, revealed here as the House of Ideas. 80 years of Marvel team up to clobber her. A deus ex machina? A feel-good "power of friendship" victory? Sure. But it is crafted with SUPERB skill, and there's no reason to shy away from it unless you're in one of those adolescent moods where optimism makes you break out in hives. The epilogue with all the status quo updates is more hit-and-miss, but some of the hooks for future stories are mighty sharp.
The first two thirds of this was a love letter to Marvel comics and that was absolutely great. The final third felt disjointed, with some stuff feeling like an afterthought (Challenger's escape), but you know, I really loved those first two thirds.
This was a good ending to a good series! Really cool way to defeat the villain!
Sometimes an ending can be understated. Tremendous artwork throughout.
I actually thought what vision did was really cool and I enjiyed the ending. While it had flaws it was an enjoyable read. Unlike others I do think this migjt be better than no surrender but im not sure because both had much to offer.
Pretty decent ending to a pretty average story. I didn't mind this, but it wasn't as good as the No Surrender. There are a lot of teases for the future stories in the final pages of this book, and I'm quite excited about them.
I get what the writers were trying to do with the first part of the issue but it just comes out as extremely rushed and overly climatic. It just felt like the writers took the easy way out to beat Nyx. Most of the rest of this issue is was the characters wrapping things up. Pretty boring and frustrating issue. The first 7 issues were amazing but No Road Home failed to stick the landing. No Surrender > No Road Home. But at least I care about Conan now.
That's it?
