Bendis leaving Marvel is exciting for the sake of change at the "Big 2" but at the expense of this series, I don't know if it's worth it. Defenders will leave a gaping hole in Marvel's lineup. Read Full Review
Defenders #8 is another fantastic installment to an already great series. The tension is heavy, the stakes are high, the characters are great, and the art is incredible. This one is highly recommended. Give it a read. Read Full Review
Deadpool is in this issue as well and is his usual funny self, though honestly, I would have sacrificed him for more developmental time for the heroes' crew. He still is a welcome addition either way. Another cameo makes this a can't-miss issue for me. I wish there was more Punisher though, but aside from that, I have no real problems; this was one of my favorite issues though I'm not sure if it tops the last one with the great Iron Fist vs Elektra fight. The Defenders continues to be one of, if not the best, series Marvel comics is putting out right now; I am not sure what is going to happen with it after Bendis leaves. I know it did not have a solicitation in March, but I have not heard if it is officially canceled yet. Let's not focus on that–just focus on the fantastic story and beautiful art we are getting from this series right now, and enjoy it while we can! Read Full Review
I liked this issue and some may just love it. If you're a fan of comic book storytelling and innovation in the industry you will adore this series. This issue wastes time with unnecessary asides and red herrings, which will undoubtedly annoy many. Read Full Review
Defenders #8 is worth buying for the dynamic art style, but takes a few missteps with the story. Read Full Review
Good issue, Defenders has truly improved as its gone on. Deadpool kinda ruins this issue for me. His jokes are horrible and he feels so out of place.
The Defenders soldier on as their story risks Total Villain Overload. At least Daredevil shared his secret identity; that's nice. Individual scenes in this book are brilliant, but the overall picture is aimless and messy. Speaking of aimless and messy, David Marquez's art looks rushed this month. Michael Avon Oeming (oooh!) helps out by drawing an artfully-designed but slightly underwhelming flashback. How many times does Brian Michael Bendis want to revisit the "Fisk takes over from Don Rigoletto" scene? It's already become the Kingpin's Uncle Ben moment, and Mr. Bendis deployed it in Spider-Men II way too recently. This title is still tons of fun, but the sprawling scope of the story and the rushed art leave me thinking this issue is onlymore
What an issue. It had some great moments, but Deadpool was such a waste. I don't like him to begin with and he pretty much just wasted a large amount of time over the past 3 issues. Art was great.
It just spins wheels with side stories that add nothing. Deadpool wasn't used well here at all. It's completely wasted space. Duggan just spoiled me i guess. Marquez is his usual good self but the Oeming flashbacks were jarring to me and didn't fit.
