KINGPINS OF NEW YORK Part 4
• Harlem burns as the Defenders push back against the bloodiest gang war in Marvel history.
• Some will rise, some will fall and there will be new Defenders...
Rated T+
Sometimes, a comic just fires on all cylinders, and its hard to go too in-depth on how it works without taking the fun out of it. In short, the characters are charming and engaging, the action is thrilling, and the art is fantastic. Defenders #9 definitely gets a review. Give this one a read. Read Full Review
DEFENDERS #9 may be the best of the series so far. With incredible characterization of fan-favorite Jessica Jones and some of the best art in the series, this is a must have for any fan of these street-level heroes. Read Full Review
This issue is very well-paced and constructed, bringing together a large group of heroes ala the old-school Defenders, featuring nice character work and dialogue and excellent action sequences. Read Full Review
Add in lots of sharp, funny dialogue and terrific art by David Marquez (with color by Justin Ponsor) and you have a crackling good time. Read Full Review
The Defenders is one of the best comics Marvel Comics is putting out right now! From the writing to the art, it is a superb book and a ton of fun to read. The action is intense and hard-hitting, and the story continues to keep the reader turning the page. The Defenders have to stop Diamondback before he becomes too powerful, but that is easier said than done. With his new power and some other villains by his side, it is not going to be an easy fight. That is not all our heroes have to worry about as The Hood has thrown in his hat to take over New York City! Will The Defenders ever be able to win? Maybe not by themselves, but if they had some help there might be a chance! Read Full Review
The action and art keep the tension up as the story comes to a close. Read Full Review
The Defenders #9 had a lot of potential, but is still a stagnant read as Bendis reaches closer to his finish line. Read Full Review
As is often the case with comics you never fully know where this story will go so many of my disappointments with this issue may end up being moot. From a pure entertainment standpoint, this brought the goods. Bendis has had his issues in the past knowing how to end stories in a satisfying way. Lets pray he leaves this book as well off as he started it. Read Full Review
Great action sequence but why so little fighting from the guest star?
Oh man, this issue is awesome. Some intense beat downs goin' on in this issue.
Just ur usual huge Bendis action issue. Definitely a blast to read but its nothing special
Very enjoyable read. Of course, the flipfloppy Black Cat characterization is maddening as hell. The matter of fact return/cameo of Echo doesn't help either.
Diamondback goes down in a guest-star-studded fightstravaganza. Brian Michael Bendis seems already to be taking a victory lap on his way out the Bullpen door; this script is stuffed full of his effortless characterization. "Effortless" is a double-edged word, of course; while it's easy to love these characters, it's hard to see much passion in their portrayal. David Marquez's ever-swank art is cut from finer cloth. The superb visuals shut the door to disappointment the script might have left open and render this an all-around solid issue. This series as a whole won't be remembered as a turning point in Marvel history, but it's always a blast to read.
The art was awesome. Story was ok. It's Bendis.
