Not only did I not find fault with the writing and art in this issue, it was fun as hell! I had an absolute blast reading it and a smile on my face the entire time. I like Jonathan Hickman quite a bit but I wasn’t sure if he was a “big, cosmic” guy. Turns out he has either been channeling the spirit of Jack Kirby and communing with Stan Lee on the astral plane or he’s been eating a whole lot of mushrooms lately – he jumped in with both feet on this title and seems to be enjoying the hell out of it. Obviously, I did too. Read Full Review

The Weekly Crisis - Ryan Schrodt Aug 28, 2009

In their debut, Jonathan Hickman and Dale Eaglesham waste no time bring highconcept crazy scifi coolness to this serieshopefully setting the stage for more great stories to come. I feel like the Fantastic Four have lost their edge and become a bit dull over the last few years, but this issue seeks to remedy that and does a great job of it. I see great things in the future for this book. Read Full Review

As this reviewer's first introduction to Hickman, this issue sold me immediately into this story and opened up a galaxy of possibilities in the comic realm. FANTASTIC FOUR #570 does a perfect job of introducing the current standing of Marvels First Family with a classic feel, hits the characteristics of each main character perfectly, dangles some extremely clever plot threads that are so imaginative, and saturates the issue with outstanding artistic designs that are truly some next-level stuff! Youll leave this issue wanting more immediately and wont be able to put Hickmans run down. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Aug 31, 2009

Fantastic Four #570 was a great start to Hickman and Eaglesham's run on this series. They did a very good job making this a very new reader friendly issue while also hooking long time readers with the introduction of the multiverse versions of Reed and continuing the Nu-World plotline. I definitely recommend picking this issue up for fans of team books and of the Fantastic Four specifically. Read Full Review

So it's a bit out with the new, in with the old when it comes to Hickman's Fantastic Four. He seeks to revitalize the title by bringing it back to what always made it work, and as far as the first issue goes, he's succeeding. Read Full Review

This is Hickman's first shot at a core Marvel series, and he plays it relatively safe, but it's a promising start, and I'm curious to see how far he'll push the boundaries of this historically conservative series. Read Full Review

This is a good place to get on-board if you've been away, and if you were thinking about abandoning ship, I'd suggest sticking around to give the new creative team a try. It could be made stronger with more restrained page layouts, but the last page splash is worth the price of admission all by itself. Read Full Review

I get the same impression from this issue that I did from the Dark Reign: Fantastic Four miniseries: Hickman obviously has some strong sci-fi ideas for the FF to explore, a good grasp of the characters, and an appreciation of the kind of tone that best suits the Marvel Universe's First Family. Even if it didn't blow me away, this issue sets up a fairly interesting new plot, and I look forward to seeing where it leads in future issues. Read Full Review

So, yes, it's a good debut which should lead to some good, exciting, thought-provoking stories down the line. If it all turns out to be for naught, we can look back and complain, but at the moment, hope springs eternal. Don't let us down, Hickman! Read Full Review

Hickman has a solid start out of the gate although the story is held back a bit by Eaglesham's off-model character designs. Read Full Review

Not a perfect issue, but a good Fantastic Four issue. More in line with classic interpretations of the team and personalities than the more over the top Millar work. Read Full Review
