JOHNNY BLAZE AND TALIA WARROAD - WORKING TOGETHER?!
As part of a splinter unit within the F.B.I., they will map out the shadow highways that crisscross the country, uncovering the larger design of an underworld conspiracy!
RATED T+
Overall, I am delighted with this series up to this point and have not disliked a single issue. Ghost Rider is an intense character, and Benjamin Percy and Cory Smith stay true to the character. But, what awaits Talia and Johnny in Chicago, and will they even make it there? Read Full Review
Ghost Rider slows to a crawl this issue, one that largely goes out of its way to make itself a shallow springboard into the next issue rather than adding some meat to its own bones. Read Full Review
Ghost Rider #8 takes a prolonged road to nowhere by moving the story forward at a snail's pace. The art is the best horror visuals Marvel offers, and the personal interactions between Warroad and Blaze are well done, but this series is spinning its wheels. Read Full Review
A pretty fun issue here with Johnny and Talia teaming up for the first time. This was definitely one of my favorite issues so far. Considering the cover art, I was worried that Talia was just going to become a love interest for Johnny. Luckily, that doesn't seem to be the case, at least for now.
I found it to be a pretty choppy chapter. There's meaningful stuff going on, but as an independent issue, it doesn't really build to anything, doesn't have a lot of tension. A middle chapter.
Which is not to say it's without its high points: That hearse-ride is something Cory Smith's probably been waiting to draw since #1. And it looks great. And Johnny's line toward the end about "how America works" is terrific, too.
Overall, #8 is not a turning point in the story. But it's hardly like it gives you a reason to quit reading.
It's a pretty good issue. Not the best of the series, but moves the plot a little and has some great visuals.
Cory Smith absolutely kills it with the art in this series - there's so much horror inspiration, especially body horror. Not much happens to move the story forward much though, which is a bummer because everything coming down the pipeline with Exhaust (please someone arrest me for this pun) is really exciting.
Well darn. I have really liked this volume of ghost rider and am a big Benjamin Percy fan. However, I was not into this issue. The story seemed to lack any sort of depth or substance and the art was decent. I'm also not into this new villain he seems really corny to me. A rare miss unfortunately in my opinion
