RING OF FIRE Part 2
• ROGUE and GAMBIT dig deep into their past in "therapy" to maintain their cover, all the while snooping around after hours for clues about missing mutants.
• Will what they unearth about themselves in this "paradise" mean curtains for their relationship or bring them closer than ever?
• And what discovery straight out of a horror movie has ROGUE and GAMBIT wishing they'd never agreed to this mission in the first place?!
Rated T+
Similar to the first issue, Rogue & Gambit #2 is more interested in its characters than the larger mystery of the mission at hand, but then, that's surely what readers picking up a book titled Rogue & Gambit are looking for, right? That said, there is at least a hint of where this story is going and the introduction of the villain, so important pieces are being set up. Read Full Review
Anyone who likes X-Men will love this book, I'd venture to say anyone should like this book. I can't wait to see what else they have in store for the mutant duo. Read Full Review
The overall story is a little light, but it's easily one of the best Rogue and Gambit tales in a long time. Read Full Review
Summary: This is a great issue especially with Valentine's Day coming up. It is a good mix of action and drama, with a little bit of homage to the past. The art by Perez is very detailed on character features and in backgrounds and everything else and D'Armata's mix of color makes it pop. Very fun read! Read Full Review
A decent comic, but nothing spectacular. Granted, things are only getting started, with slight teases of dangers to come. The art was the high point of the issue, though undercut by the light coloring. If one is an X-fan, this should please you. If one is seeking a major Marvel moment, this is not it. Just slightly better than average. Read Full Review
Fantastic artwork and fun character exploration help to make Rogue and Gambit more interesting here than they've been in a long, long time. Read Full Review
Rogue & Gambit #2 is a fun and thoughtful exploration of one of comics' most iconic couple's complicated pasts. Read Full Review
The mission itself is little more than an excuse to pair the two together, and it continues to work here -- with more than a few genuine laughs along the way. Read Full Review
Great issue, great art and fantastic dramatic scenes. The fight scenes are awesome and this issue kicks up the stakes for this series 10 fold. Again, I love Rogue and Gambit's chemistry. What I am beginning to realize I love about the way this series is written is that the focus is on 2 characters...this give you so much more space to develop them and focus on telling a grand story rather than seeing just how many characters you can fit in one story. Can't wait for issue 3...this is officially added to my pull list.
Best X Series right now
Two issues in and this is by far the best X-Men book on the market. It feels and looks like classic X-Men that I grew up reading as a kid. Seeing Rogue and Gambit arguing and flirting is awesome and them debating how they originally met was pretty funny. They've always been my favorite couple in the X-Men so clearly I'm bias here. Kelly Thompson is really kicking ass on this title and The artwork by Pere Perez is top notch as well. Can't wait for more!
Rogue and Gambit break into the restricted areas of the Paraiso resort while also reviewing their shared history. Rogue regrets the fact that their first meeting was tainted by Shadow King mind control. The sinister purpose behind the resort gets some very creepy developments and a new antagonist, but the whole picture is still indistinct. This is close to greatness. All I want to see in future issues is the baddy situation fleshed out with a level of care and inventiveness close to that lavished on the Rogue & Gambit relationship.
