Secret Invasion #1 lives up to the name. Initially, reusing the concept of a comic that already exists means that it might be easy to see what is coming. However, this version of the Secret Invasion is not a rewriting of history but a spiritual sequel. At the moment, it isnt as expansive, which makes it more terrifying and intimate. As much as I adored the original event, this is a story that may be more approachable to new readers, not burdened with years of build-up and history. And that is paired with an incredible art team that has created a fantastic horror comic. Read Full Review
Secret Invasion, while not the first book I would've picked this morning at the comic store when new releases hit the shelves, was an unbridled success. I am pleasantly surprised. I will await each release of the Secret Invasion series to see what happens next. Great job, Ryan North and Francesco Mobili. You have captured our attention. Read Full Review
Secret Invasion #1 is a worthy successor to the event of the same name. While it hits a lot of the same beats to start, it's fun and entertaining capturing today's reality. Where it differs will be key and it'll be exciting to discover that as well as who we can and cannot trust. Read Full Review
scale return to one of Marvel's most interesting modern story ideas. Read Full Review
I would recommend this one to fans of the Nick Fury character and also you will get to see at the fake ones of him running around and ending up in situations you would never usually see him in. Read Full Review
The twists and turns of a Skrull story are alive and well in Secret Invasion #1. Ryan North and Francesco Mobili capture the unease of not knowing who is good, bad, and everything in between. Read Full Review
Secret Invasion #1 is a serviceable start to the latest attempt by the Skrulls to infiltrate the seats of power and take over the world. The issue gets off to a bumpy start, but once the plot is discovered, the pacing keeps the story flowing briskly and evenly. However, Maria Hill and her colleagues handle the situation a little too well, removing any feelings of paranoia or tension. Read Full Review
Secret Invasion could wind up being fine in the long run, but there's nothing in the inaugural installment that grabs me. Read Full Review
This seems like a perfectly cromulent espionage/infiltration story. It's crafted well in words and art. It just hasn't gotten a hook in me yet. It's good enough for me to read on and give it another chance, though.
Why they named this the same as the one from two decades ago is beyond me. It's going to get confusing. How secret can it be, when everyone is geared up for it? Of course, this is the lead into the tv show coming to Disney+. Not sure how you can have a Secret Invasion without superheroes in it, but whatever. This one starts with a creepy family celebrating their father's/husband's death because they think he's a Skrull. Why do they think this? Don't know. Later we find out that they are Skrulls and they attack Fury. Throughout this, he is meeting with Maria Hill, who catches on. Then superheroes show up. This is good since I thought they wouldn't be there like in the show. There's some good set up here. I'll buy the next one.
