The creative team behind Spirits of Vengeance is a fantastic combination literary and visual talent. If the first issue is any indicator of the future, this is one of Marvel's hottest new titles! Read Full Review
SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE #1 features some of the Marvel Universe's darkest supernatural antiheroes joining forces to take on the coming dark. Though Daimon Hellstrom doesn't receive the same level of characterization as his co-conspirators, this investigative fantasy is a lot of fun. Read Full Review
If you're a fan of just one of these characters then I highly recommend you checking Spirits of Vengeance out, you are in for a hell of a good time! Read Full Review
Youve got my attention, Spirits of Vengeance. Im a sucker for these Hellish characters and I love the tone of this first issue. Its going to be a wild ride, but I have a feeling its going to be a lot of fun watching this group of kinda-sorta-maybe heroes save the world. Read Full Review
This was pretty great for an introductory issue. Read Full Review
Spirits of Vengeance isnt brilliant, but it is pretty damn fun. With good one-liners and great action, the heavy metal momentum overcomes the overly-vague plot. The artwork is solid and shines in the action sequences. This one delivers what it promises, and, if it looked appealing on the announcement, then youll enjoy it. Read Full Review
Of course, Gischler has an excellent collaborator and storyteller in artist David Balden. The Spanish artist reminds me of artist Joe Madureira. Here, Balden presents elastic and supple figure drawings that give the characters life and also give them distinct personalities " even the characters who are not around for long. This is dynamic graphical storytelling, with an excellent sense of the dark and the supernatural. And Balden simply makes Spirits of Vengeance look different from other Marvel titles. Spirits of Vengeance is a moody comic, set in the dark and supernatural corners of Marvel that haven't been seen for some time. That kind of tale isn't going to be to everyone's tastes, but if you find yourself itching for something different " especially in this spookiest of months " you might be surprised at just how enjoyable it really is. Spirits Of Vengeance #1 provides a spectacular jumping-on point for a book sporting some underused fan favorite characters. It even provides quick profile pages for the four members in the back of the issue. Read Full Review
Spirits of Vengeance gets off on the right foot introducing everyone to its intriguing cast of characters and sending them off on their way. Not many answers so far but the quality seems there enough to keep me coming back for now. Read Full Review
With angels dying and demons on the prowl it is going to take more than one spirit of vengeance to solve the mystery and save the Marvel Universe, luckily Daimon Hellstorm, Blade, Ghost Rider and Satana are teaming up in Spirits of Vengeance #1 (of 5). While the art may not be best suited for the story, Spirits of Vengeance is a fun delve in Marvels darker corners. Victor Gischler scripts an interesting mystery that has only barely begun in issue #1. Will our heroes be able to figure out what is happening before it is too late? Read Full Review
The cliffhanger works at face value (and makes Blade seem very scary indeed) but the transition to it feels a little bit more like "ran out of time" than "meant to do that", but the overall story is strong enough to weather the hit. Read Full Review
For fans of these characters, Spirits of Vengeance is a no-brainer must buy. For those who don't really have any investment, the book may not be meaty enough to provide a reason to stay. Read Full Review
The one thing I can say about this series is that I am glad that the Ghost Rider is the Johnny Blaze version. He has always been the best version in my opinion. I like Blade as well. The generic nature of the story is it's downfall, there just isn't enough here to keep me reading. Read Full Review
The idea of a supernatural team-up book featuring four of Marvel's horror icons sounds great on paper. Unfortunately, this series seems in little hurry to bring that team together, despite the fact that there are only five issues to work with. Spirits of vengeance definitely looks great, giving an expressive sheen to this darker corner of the Marvel U. But that alone doesn't do enough to justify the book's existence. Read Full Review
The designs may be rad as heck, but "Spirits of Vengeance" is a muddled and confusing first issue. Read Full Review
Better than expected, it's the art that makes you forget the cliched plot.
Has me interested enough to see where this goes. I am glad Blade is fearsome again.
Well ... That was something. I'm not fond of Johnny Blaze. I encounter Hellstrom maybe once or twice. The last time I see Blaze was in Ewing's Mighty Avengers. And I never cross path with Satana for now (Including this issue, She is only on the cover and with a one illustration for a synthetise origine).
I was very worried about the Bad Guy (Well Woman) after I see the cover for Issue 3. but, for once she's is not the one in charge, and I liked what I read.
Baldeon do a good issue. Not great, but good. I think he's more comfortable with heroes than Demons but he make some very good panel. He demonstrated the power of Ghost Rider in 3 panel... Great work, for that.
I think this one can be a very pleasant & surprising short sto more
Nice first issue sets the scene well.
Slow-moving supernatural apocalypse noise gently nudges Johnny Blaze into Daimon Hellstrom and they call up Blade at the very end of the book. The pacing and the vagueness of the threat are not promising, but David BaldeĆ³n's art is. Andres Mossa's colors are overblown, which does a little more harm than good. The characters are handled nicely, and if this story throttles up quickly, it may end up great.
