As a fan raring to get more Superior, this issue is like a nice lost story with the promise of setting some new things up for Dan Slott and Mark Bagley to knock down. I'm okay with that because more Superior Spider-Man is always a good thing. Read Full Review
The Superior Spider-Man Returns #1 is a fantastic return to the titular character, giving Spidey fans an outlet for stories that harken back to a simpler time. All of the creators here do an excellent job reminding us how great it was in 2013, making us wish that we had gotten this book sooner. Read Full Review
It's nice to delve right back into the world of Superior Spider-Man. Christos Gage doesn't miss a beat with his sharp wit and clever dialogue. Read Full Review
Story-wise, Superior Spider-Man #1 is nothing to write home about. Read Full Review
The one-shot gives us more of Doc Ock's version of Spidey in the flashbacks that make up the majority of the issue as well as the origin story for a new villain who blames Spider-Man (not knowing it was Doc Ock's Spider-Man who she was working for) for her tragic transformation and subsequent imprisonment. A one-shot issue that encapsulates a flashback, but ends with a cliffhanger and a pitch to buy the upcoming number one issue? Marvel's got some nerve! Read Full Review
It's an issue that didn't need to exist and the story that's to come could have just given us everything here easily. Read Full Review
This is such a unique storyline - it is certainly unpredictable and interesting! Artwork is nice, as well as the specific details to texture.
Slott is one of my least favorite writers for Peter Parker but hes one of my Favorite for Otto as Spider-man. His Superior Spiderman run is easily a highlight in Post One More Day era of Spider-man Stories. Slott Gets Otto and I hope he can get free regin to right whatever he wants with Otto. (Just don't let him touch Peter) This Story Kicked major butt!!
I can’t believe its already been 10 years, but Dan Slott & Christos Gage are back with a Superior Spider-Man tale in this special one-shot ahead of a new ongoing series next month. It took a few pages to find its footing but this felt like a reunion with an old friend after years apart. Slott, Gage, and the art team consisting of Ryan Stegman, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Humberto Ramos, and Mark Bagley turn this one-shot into a wonderful dose of nostalgia. Not sure I buy the new villain just yet, but we’ll see how the new series develops that character further. One thing continues to be clear — Slott and Gage are two of the best Spider-Man scribes around.
Reading this felt like putting on an old comfortable sweater. Having Otto back with art from 4 great artists, I had a blast.
I was worried Otto would go immediately Superior here and I'm glad that he didn't.
Dan Slott has not been my favorite writer, but honestly? this was a very good issue. I actually miss seeing Otto Octavius as Peter Parker. The art is good, the story was actually very good. Dan Slott work has been hit or misses (especially with Fantastic Four). But I always give people hte benefit of the doubt, and this issue showed why his run on Spider-Man was popular back in the day. Definitely check this out if you have time
I was excited to see this was going to be a thing, but it it felt a little empty. It gave us the superior Spider-Man feel, but it didn’t feel like there was a reason for the book to exist.
It ended up really being about a new villain and I thought we’d be getting a superior Spider-Man story.
