Dono Sanchez-Almara's colors compliment Larsen's artwork perfectly. In spite of being an apocalyptic landscape, the art and story-telling never seem dull or tedious. A fine read from a skilled comic craftsman taking a shot at a classic property in their own style. I have not read a solo Captain America book in some time and this was a nice diversion from my normal weekly books. If you are a big Captain America fan" perhaps this is still something you want to add to your collection. The fact it's a complete story, you don't need any other issues to get the whole story might be an appeal to some. Captain America: The End #1 may feel a little simplistic, but that's by design. A full-throated homage to Cap co-creator Jack Kirby more than anything else, this comic nonetheless is a worthy celebration of what makes him great. Hey, it's I Am Legend starring Captain America! It's a mighty derivative premise and there's some further clumsiness in the plotting -- Cap explaining the status quo to the survivors right after the narrator explains it to us is redundant. On the art side, I can see the intent was to pay tribute to Jack Kirby, but the results aren't all that attractive.
