Venom #8 is the beginning of a brand new story arc, this time focusing on Eddie Brock as Venom. The story starts with Eddie trying to figure out his new state of being than quickly shifts to a new time period that directly relates to Kang the Conqueror. It's not that the Ram V part of this volume is *bad*. It's just that the Al Ewing part is, for me, *so much better*.

This issue is taut, fast, and action-heavy, segueing into some cool (albeit predictable) plot developments at the end. And lest it seem too light, it opens with a deep characterization gut-punch for Eddie. Add some stellar art and a fine helping of jokes and you've got a great comic.

I very much agree with what CrazyForRAMU stated in their review, in that Ram V.'s side of this series isn't bad, it's just that Ewing's side is so much better. Every time I see that Ewing is writing an issue of this series, I get more excited than when it's V. Again, V.'s story with Dylan isn't bad by any means, but Ewing's story with Eddie is just so much more interesting. Here, we get Eddie traveling far into the future and having a well-written encounter with Kang that progresses the ongoing story with Meridius a bit by the end of it. As much as I think V. is a good writer and as much as I actually want to see more from that side of the story after last issue's Bedlam reveal, I'm very glad that the next two issues are going to be from Ewing. more

First half of this started a bit slow for me, but the latter half that featured Kang was really fun to read and set up a nice cliffhanger. Kang's always been one of those villains I enjoy reading.

Real fun and something unusual for a Venom storyline.

Interesting issue. Really like the Kang portrayal.

Don't get the Al Ewing hype but he's clearly not for me so gonna drop this run. I love sci fi stories, but personally don't find he's able to tell compelling or even interesting stories.
