Avengers (2023) #21

Dec 4, 2024

I can understand if people are disappointed with the bait and switch. Maybe you came to the issue to see the heroes go at each other's necks for previous transgressions. After all that's what was advertised. However, I think Jed MacKay was on to something when he allowed these camps to have this moment of fun camaraderie and unwinding.

Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale (2024) #1

Dec 11, 2024

Luana Vecchio takes, essentially a serial killer in Domino, and huminizes her by flushing out her story in it's entirety. In other words, Madeleine's future is Domino. Despite this known fact, I'm still unable to stop myself from reading how it happened. Even if horror-thriller comics is not for you, I highly recommend you give "Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale a read.

She-Hulk (2022) #10

Aug 14, 2024

The artwork in this series has been exceptional. This issue is no different. You have the action scenes well detailed and fluid while at the same time there's moments charged with a lot of judgement, for example (Talking about you Tony Stark), and the tone of the writing perfectly matches the emotions portrayed in the art.

Something is Killing the Children #1

Sep 11, 2024

When I read a first issue, my main focus is to find reasons to come back to the story. SIKTC #1 completely sold me on this entire universe in half a comic! I will be looking to get caught up with the story ASAP! Highly recommend you try it out, if you haven't yet, it is definitely worth your time!

Spider-Woman (2023) #10

Aug 21, 2024

In this issue in particular, the range of these artists is on full display. You have incredible tense action between Spider-Woman and Gremlin. It carries a terrifying Terminator vibe. There's fire bending, ice attacks, venom blasts and explosions in full bright colors.

Ultimate Universe: One Year In (2024) #1

Dec 11, 2024

The classic story of a hero who comprosmised themselves in the process. Along the way, Fury allowed himself to believed he was one of the good guys. Even after his actions continued to say otherwise. In the end, he tried to do the right thing. Very compelling stuff from Deniz Camp.

X-Men (2024) #7

Nov 6, 2024

The nuanced conflict between the people or Merle and the X-Men has been enough for me to follow the series. Of course this is not all this series has to offer, there's plenty I refuse to spoil. The X-Men by Jed MacKay has a variety of reasons for everyone to love. The team roster, the new facility, or even Magneto's health issues. Not to mention the team's mission of rescuing "new mutants has taken them all over the country so far. If you are looking to jump into one of the new X titles from Marvel in the post-Krakoa era, X-Men by Jed MacKay is a no brainer.

Ultimate X-Men (2024) #8

Oct 30, 2024

Issue #8 pushes the paste of the story of Hi No Kuni as a whole. Word is finally out, the Children of the Atom and consequently, Mutants' lives are about to change. Therefore, they no longer will live in secrecy. I expect a full-scale explosion of new mutants to crowd the cities and towns of the Land of Fire. Peach Momoko clearly has some criticism for cults and its members/victims. The secret nature of the cult allowed Maester to execute his operation in the shadows.

Ultimate X-Men (2024) #9

Nov 13, 2024

Ultimate X-Men has laid out for the readers a case study on the behaviors of cult members. For example, there are multiple examples, from the very top of the organization, to the "day-one believers. At this very moment, it's quite a contrast between the characters.

Fantastic Four (2022) #24

Aug 28, 2024

This current run of Marvel's first family has a specific characteristic that separates it from every other on-going series on the shelves right now. That characteristic is the single issue or at most, two-issue stories. You can pick up any issue from this 20 plus run and you start and finish an adventure by the fantastic four right there and there.

Red Before Black (2024) #2

Sep 11, 2024

This issue slowed down the craziness enough for the story to simmer and allowed the characters to develop more. However, when it's time to escape into lunacy, it pulls you in fast and hard with ease. The art is also very exceptional and matches the pacing of the story. I highly recommend it.

Red Before Black (2024) #3

Nov 27, 2024

I appreciate that Stephanie Phillips colored the background of a character, so to speak. She's giving these characters multiple dimensions. Adding to their make up of who they are and why we should care about them. It's quite amazing! For example, Leo is not just some crazy rebellious broad turns out. Maybe she is, in some ways.

Scarlet Witch (2024) #5

Oct 23, 2024

I can't believe it took 60 years for the Devil and the Witch to finally team up in a comic book! Shoutout to Steve Orlando! This current era of the Witch it's just perfect! Never seen this character treated with such respect, such dignity and reverence than these last few years. Steve Orlando deserves many praises in my opinion! I highly recommend you get caught up with The Scarlet Witch if you haven't done so yet. You are missing out!

Scarlet Witch (2024) #6

Nov 20, 2024

Steve Orlandos portrayal of Wanda Maximoff The Scarlet Witch continues to be my personal favorite, by far. Wanda in this issue is kind, welcoming and empathetic towards Amaranth. The fact that she took Agatha Harkness ward under her wing is proof that Wanda is willing to help anyone. Not just those who come through the Last Door. Finally, the mystery of Amaranth has the possibility to bring a new side of Wanda we dont get to see often. Wanda the mentor. Once again, I highly recommend you get caught up with Steve Orlandos era of the Scarlet Witch.

Vicarious (2024) #3

Dec 18, 2024

Ryan Parrot continues to escalate the antics of linking by putting the characters in different scenarios. I always thought the premise of linking had an infinite amount of possibilities. For example, every issue could explore new points of view between a proxy and a linker. But I never expected to see proxies at each other's throats. For example, proxies hiring other proxies to do their dirty work for them. Goes to show you never know what's going to happen in the world of Vicarious.

Violent Flowers (2024) #2

Oct 30, 2024

Theres a lot going on in this story. Plenty of names and plots to follow. However, using Anna as a proxy for the readers experience was a very smart decision by Llovet. We get to experience and learn everything about this world with the character of Anna. Accordingly, this story is currently an exciting messy ball of yarn and Llovets job is to unravel it one issue at a time. It is in my assessment that Llovet is doing a fine job!

Flavor Girls: Return to the Mothership #1

Dec 4, 2024

To summarize, I had no clue what this was about. But as a new reader I admit I was pleasantly surprised. The gimmick of the fruit powers sounded silly enough. Until I saw the Flavor Girls invoke their individual powers and put them to use. Actually, it's very cool and they are quite the battle-hardened bunch. Finally, plenty of personal drama spilled under the main plot. Which is exactly the kind of mess that draws readers to return.

Avengers Assemble (2024) #3

Nov 20, 2024

Steve Orlando is writing an excellent team book for Marvel Comics. This issue in particular, contains a powerfull message for displace people around the world. In my opinion, the message is the following; There will always be those groups of people that will resist your presence in your new location. Even more, there will be people to actively fight your very existance in the world. Nonetheless, just like the Avengers fought for those vampires rights, there is also people who will always fight for yours.

Avengers Assemble (2024) #4

Dec 4, 2024

I left the Serpent Society plot alone, so I don't spoil the issue entirely. But trust me, those snakes are becoming a bigger problem than anyone could have predicted. Steve Orlando is dragging the AvengE.R.S. all over the place to teach us a new lesson at every single stop. They fight hatred, exploitation, prejudice and discrimination. While they also punch bad guys in the face. Which is exactly what I want from my Avengers.

In Bloom (2024) #1

Dec 11, 2024

I would've preffered my focus stayed in the murder mystery alone. At least for the begining. Regardless of my petty objection, this is quite the story and quite a world. Makes you wonder about the people who create this sort of works. If this is what they bring to life, what are the horrors that don't make the cut?
