Jul 28, 2026‘Absolute Superman’ #21 brings the most recent storyline, “Reign of the Superman”, to an end with a high-stakes battle between King Shazam and Superman, with a little help from some friends. It’s an emotive and energetic climax with a denouement that sets up both Lois and Jimmy in new roles. And a killer final page reveal. Read Full Review

Aug 11, 2026Jason Aaron continues to challenge the Absolute version of Superman with different variations on his classic enemies. The fight with Metallo is as brutal as anything we have seen in this series thus far. I particularly loved the absolute menace that Aaron manages to conjure with his interpretation of Brainiac. Absolute Superman is an absolute blast to read. This is a one-off issue, but I like how in this issue Jason Aaron makes Superman literally eat a lot of hits, but he keeps on standing up to make sure Metallo remembers who he is. Juan Ferreyra's art is also amazing as well

I'm a bit hesitant about what grade to give this issue. The positives are the usual: Absolute Brainiac continues to be a fantastic version of the villain, the art is beautiful, and Aaron writes a great Superman. My only reservations are regarding Metallo. I know it's a small detail and most people won't even care, but I wish they had gone in a different direction. I mean, making Metallo more autonomous and not a puppet of a bigger villain. But I liked the new look. it's a mix of several old looks the character has had, and I liked the flashbacks adding more layers to the character. And the kryptonite blood thing was an interesting addition. Looking forward to the next issue with Toyman!
