Finally they realize there can be some sort of middle ground. Lois can trust Clark to write what is right. Clark can realize that he is good at the human interest stories so maybe he can stay away from Superman stories when he can. Tormey brings the expressive work needed for this type of chapter. Gail is having a fantastic renaissance, and while she's very busy at the moment, DC would be smart to make sure this isn't her last Superman story. Read Full Review

The whole arc was a nice little interlude before we get to All In, but it also felt like a nice resent, with Superman's core values perfectly on display with plenty of action as well. Read Full Review

The Man Of Steels trip back in time nails the landing in its concluding chapter. Simones phenomenal writing brings the finest out of the Superman mythos. Barrows and the art team construct a throwdown for the ages with the strong imagery. This is a fantastic read that adds another highspot in the legendary legacy of Superman. Read Full Review

The Aspiring Kryptonian - Sam Rakestraw Sep 27, 2024

Whenever Superman is in an arena of sorts, you know its going to be an event of a comic book. The action in Action Comics #1069 satisfies thanks to Simones immersive narrating, making you not only hear how loud the blows are but the motivation of why they are being thrown in the first place. This is the kind of writing comics need more of. Read Full Review

Action Comics #1069 wraps up two good stories, making you wish the creative teams would stay on. The main story offers big bombastic action while the backup takes an intimate look at Lois and Clark. Does it get any better than this? Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd Sep 25, 2024

With both three part stories concluding in Action Comics #1069, there's a palpable energy to the issue. They go together in a unique way as they focus on different aspects of Superman's life, both personal and public. It's a great time to be reading Action Comics and I think any Superman fan would find this a great three issues. Stories don't always land, but in the case of this issue, but that's not the case here, as both of these adventures of the Man of Steel have something to say and say it well. Indeed, this is in fact the strongest of the three issues. It's quite easy to image just reading this issue and feeling the impetus to go back and get the other two. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Christian Laspada Sep 25, 2024

Unfortunately, this arc did not hit the mark for me, and I find myself celebrating the end of this story. The rushed writing mixed with rushed art makes this arc confusing and uninteresting. This story may be exciting for some readers, but it does not work for me. Read Full Review

This was a solid finish. Really enjoyed the Simone story with it really getting the point of who Superman was. Fight was a touch anti-climatic with its end, and a touch rushed with the downfall of the tyrant but no glaring issues, more 'wouldnt this be nicer' type complaints. As I said in the previous issue, if this gets made into a small 3 issue trade it would be an excellent story to show someone if they just want a quick 'who is Superman' type deal. Art work was mostly good.

Rowell's back up finally wrapped up with some much needed communication! The ended was the best part of the back up as it was rather a let down but it all came together and I at least found the conclusion decent enough. They both realized they really neede more

This brief stint by Simone and Rowell made for a very solid set of Superman stories. There's a nostalgic beat to Simone's story that I really enjoy and Rowell's story, while slightly dragging in the middle, does what Rowell does best: delivers on that juicy character drama.

The main story was a trifle, but a solid one, let down only by Eddy Barrows's inconsistent storytelling. But the real gem for me was the backup; I would eagerly buy a Rowell-scripted Lois & Clark slice-of-life comic

Really good issue. I liked both stories. The main story continues to be consistent with its previous parts - it's a pretty simple story, but well-executed with beautiful artwork. The Superman's characterization is totally on-point, the emotional beats were satisfying, and I enjoyed the human characters having roles, including Cat Grant's brief but bold appearance. Ultimately, this storyline was too basic to feel  great, but it's still very good.

I've generally found the backup even more interesting, and I still really enjoyed it this time, but I was disappointed that we didn't actually get a resolution to what's happening with Atomic Skull. I hope it gets addressed soon in AC or Superman, but honestly, it should've been add more

Well the good thing is that this 3 issue "Event" is over. That's about it. I wish I could have a good review because Action Comics used to be the gold standard of Superman, but that was a Loooong time a ago. Hopefully DC keeps both of these writers far far away from any Superman title. Yet for that to happen they would have to 1st care about telling a good story instead of ticking off boxes to qualify for access to ESG ETF's...
