i'm glad i dropped this when i did. it was becoming a chore to read.
The Super Sons are lost in time and space! On the run from the Gang and trapped on the Planet of Secrets and Mystery, Superboy and Robin have lost everything and gotten a glimpse of how their tomorrows may end. When the planet's mysterious creator returns for his broken creation, the boys find out that tomorrow sucks as much as yesterday!
It seems somewhat strange that this issue is appearing the same week as the debut of Young Justice, a title that features a different Superboy and Robin (Conner and Tim). DC hasn't made clear if and how both these duos can co-exist, but I hope that DC somehow finds a way that allows Jon and Damian to continue their adventures as the Super Sons, as this is one of DC's best books of the post-Flashpoint era. Adventures of the Super Sons #6 is an absolute treat. Peter Tomasi takes all the elements of what makes for a classic, entertaining comic book adventure, injects some spot-on humor, and even throws in a dash of intrigue and an engaging cliffhanger to boot. Read Full Review
If you need something light heartedly and unabashedly joyous, Adventures of the Super Sons #6 is still a perfect way to flesh out your weekly pull. Tomasi's intergalactic journey is still building momentum with every passing issue and as the stakes grow higher, so does my fondness for the Super Sons. Read Full Review
The actual story for this issue is pretty low key, although the villains do show up before its over, and Superboy and Robin are in a very bad situation at the climax of the tale. Read Full Review
Adventures of the Super Sons might not be the most vital book of the week, but it continues to be one of DCs most pleasant and entertaining reads. Read Full Review
This is just a continually fun read. Tomasi does a hell of job writing it and keeping it entertaining and just fun. The art by Scott Godlewski is wonderful and keeps the enjoyment rollicking along. This is a fine issue in an entertaining series. Read Full Review
Overall, I think this was a fun issue, but hopefully, the overall plot gets more focus put into it soon. Read Full Review
This issue is an example of how quickly the season is prone to changing course. The life of these two boys is turbulent. Readers can follow their journey, and understand that being whisked from planet to planet, and experiencing danger is an everyday occurrence for the Super Sons. Read Full Review
So some nice bits, no doubt. But this book is starting to feel a little formulaic - brought to someplace new, mini-adventure, run into the Gang, get sent to someplace new. Still, I better enjoy this book while I have it! Read Full Review
The Adventures of the Super-Sons has been a slow build. However, this most recent twist, introducing the Wonder Machine's power to show future versions of the heroes and its belonging to another interested party adds to the nuance of the story. Damian and Jonathan are in very real danger as they must first escape the prison-planet they are imprisoned on and then get back to earth. I highly recommend this fun adventure about these endearing characters. Read Full Review
The art is really good. There are some vibrant and beautiful panels in the issue. Unfortunately, there is so little going on from a story perspective that the artist doesn't seem to have much to work with. Read Full Review
Halfway through, it doesn't feel like Adventures of the Super-Sons really has a strong central plot yet. Read Full Review
As long as DC keeps publishing a book with Jon and Damian I'll keep buying it, but I need more from this series. I'm still on board, and I still have faith in Tomasi, but my score reflects my building frustration. Read Full Review
While feeling somewhat repetitive, this latest issue was still an enjoyable read to be sure. It just really didn't bring anything new to the table. Read Full Review
One of my favorite issues of the series so far. I can't wait to see what happens on prison planet.
Inoffensive and fun.
While I feel like each issue is only giving us a small piece of the story at a time. Although the pieces and the artwork have been good it’s just the pace is slow. This issue could have been cut in half and added more material to progress the story. We get a character we haven’t seen in a long time and which they did something to prop him up.
I find this series a chore to get through each and every time it's out. It being the first issue alphabetically, and therefore the first issue I read, it actually makes me wary to read DC at all. It makes me re-evaluate my concept of what makes a good story. I always think that good characters are at the core of a good story. But then this series comes along, with its great protagonists and their great dynamic and a big ball of nothing for a plot and I'm dreading it like an impending doom. But on the other hand, it really only has the two great characters... Well, one and a half, Damian is very lucky someone tried to make him likeable... The villains suck and every character outside of the two sucks. So I can't really see this series as a dmore
This is all so blah and it feels really aimless at this point, I don’t care about any of this anymore.
