As the final work of a fantastic series, BATMAN/THE SHADOW #6 excels in establishing a memorable story. The dynamic between the titular characters is expertly depicted and proves to be a story that readers will carry with them long after completing the series. Read Full Review

My only disappointment is that I wish the series was less supernatural. They're both detectives, and Batman has a habit of not staying in his realm. Magic, dreams, and otherworldly experiences are not things new to Batman, his world is a trip, but supernatural evil teaming up with the Joker gave it an insane aura that felt like overkill at the end. Still, the art and writing conveyed a good unreliable narrative which I believe is part of the message. No one can rely on their mind. All members of the party, Joker, Batman, Shadow, the Stag, were pulled into a dark place in their minds and some just never got out if their heads. DC did an amazing job setting up the art duo, it's dynamic, amazing, top notch! Creepy and eerie, and if you've kept up with the series, the finale is worth it. Read Full Review

Batman/The Shadow #6 was an exciting, extradimensional thriller that took Batman out of his comfort zone. He once again proves to us that when it comes to saving lives or vanquishing evil forever, lives are more important. As an ending to the series, this issue (just about) does the job. While you may, like me, find the issue's revelations about the Stag and use of the Joker disappointing, Rossmo's art is creepy and unsettling when needed and there is a fair amount of action to be enjoyed. Perhaps most important of all, though, is the issue's redefining of the relationship between Batman and The Shadow, which points to an intriguing second series later next month. The narrative presented in issue #1, 2, and 3 feels like a completely different experience than that offered up in 4, 5, and 6. Earlier this spring, Batman/The Shadow was literally the best thing I was reading. So, to have it go from that to just another comic that I'll all too soon forget is pretty disheartening. Overall, Batman The Shadow is a very broad interpretation, created for Batman fans that would like to see him partner up with The Shadow as they believe him to be. None of the six issues were the least bit satisfying as the single storyline published back in Batman #253. The artwork was also highly-stylized, which I don't mind in general. I like Rossmo's style, but this may not have been the best project for it. Read Full Review
