In this final team-up issue, all-out war has broken out in the streets of Shamba-La! The Stag and The Joker are hell-bent on stealing all of the city's secrets and ensuring absolute darkness falls across the globe. It's the last stand for Batman and the Shadow, and the Dark Knight will have to decide once and for all if he's going to embrace the destiny the Shadow has set out for him.
Please. Please read this. Its so good. I love the sort of square of foils the writers create with Batman, the Shadow, the Joker, and the Stag, showing that good and evil are multifaceted and that people may be similar from a shallow perception, but digging deeper into their character can reveal splits, branching both heroes and villains to differing opinions on law and order. Its an intriguing glance into what could have been and I only wish it were longer. I highly recommend this entire crossover. Read Full Review
A fantastic conclusion to a fantastic series. Each hero faces a choice that could radically change them, but would stop the villains forever. Superior story and art makes this one of the best team-ups in some time. Recommended. Read Full Review
A satisfying conclusion to what has been the best Batman series Ive read this year. Im looking forward to next month when Steve Orlando and Giovanni Timpano start Dynamites The Shadow/Batman mini-series. Read Full Review
As the final work of a fantastic series, BATMAN/THE SHADOW #6 excels in establishing a memorable story. The dynamic between the titular characters is expertly depicted and proves to be a story that readers will carry with them long after completing the series. Read Full Review
My only disappointment is that I wish the series was less supernatural. They're both detectives, and Batman has a habit of not staying in his realm. Magic, dreams, and otherworldly experiences are not things new to Batman, his world is a trip, but supernatural evil teaming up with the Joker gave it an insane aura that felt like overkill at the end. Still, the art and writing conveyed a good unreliable narrative which I believe is part of the message. No one can rely on their mind. All members of the party, Joker, Batman, Shadow, the Stag, were pulled into a dark place in their minds and some just never got out if their heads. DC did an amazing job setting up the art duo, it's dynamic, amazing, top notch! Creepy and eerie, and if you've kept up with the series, the finale is worth it. Read Full Review
Batman/The Shadow #6 was an exciting, extradimensional thriller that took Batman out of his comfort zone. He once again proves to us that when it comes to saving lives or vanquishing evil forever, lives are more important. The art and script through out this series have been great and readers should look for this series as a graphic novel soon! Read Full Review
As an ending to the series, this issue (just about) does the job. While you may, like me, find the issue's revelations about the Stag and use of the Joker disappointing, Rossmo's art is creepy and unsettling when needed and there is a fair amount of action to be enjoyed. Perhaps most important of all, though, is the issue's redefining of the relationship between Batman and The Shadow, which points to an intriguing second series later next month. A mostly satisfactory ending to a mostly satisfactory series. Read Full Review
A good ending that's a bit too focused on Batman and the weird. Read Full Review
The narrative presented in issue #1, 2, and 3 feels like a completely different experience than that offered up in 4, 5, and 6. Earlier this spring, Batman/The Shadow was literally the best thing I was reading. So, to have it go from that to just another comic that I'll all too soon forget is pretty disheartening. Overall, Batman The Shadow is a very broad interpretation, created for Batman fans that would like to see him partner up with The Shadow as they believe him to be. None of the six issues were the least bit satisfying as the single storyline published back in Batman #253. The artwork was also highly-stylized, which I don't mind in general. I like Rossmo's style, but this may not have been the best project for it. Read Full Review
Really enjoyed this series. Now I look forward to the next Shadow/Batman series, where Dynamite is in control on this one. Hence Shadow first before Batman because DC was head of this one. Ended strong imo and look forward to more Bat and the Shadow..
Good ending to the miniseries, though overall the plot meandered.
But look! Another miniseries starts next month!
