Forgive me, sister, for I have sinned. I murdered Valmont, the man I love, in order to save the man I loved…Batman…who will never forgive me for breaking his one rule. But please forgive me, Sister Zero, for this Nightmare Realm you’ve put me in as penance-from which I can’t seem to wake up-is my Catholic guilt come to life in the form of your rotting disciples taking my soul. Sister Maggie, if you’re still somewhere in there, forgive me, and let me save us in the Nightmare Realm in order to save us in real life! That is…unless we should die before we wake.

But Why Tho? - William Tucker Jul 18, 2023

Knight Terrors: Catwoman #1 is a comic filled with intelligence. Everything about this book is thoughtful and layered. The repetition-induced trauma is extremely effective and relatable. Even with the heavy dialogue and themes, the book never feels cumbersome. Read Full Review

Knight Terrors: Catwoman #1,while not directly tied into the larger story, does a nice job of exploring Selina's relationship with her sister while teasing that the next issue the focus of her nightmare will shift to her complicated relationship with Batman. It will be interesting to see if the theme of snakes will play into the overall story and if it might have some religious symbolism as the conflict between Selina and Maggie is one of right and wrong and dealing with temptations. There are some interesting action scenes and emotional moments that are very connective to the readers, and a subtlety to the nightmarish quality of the sequences that may be easily overlooked. Read Full Review

Insomnia's nightmares come calling for Gotham City's resident anti-hero thief as Catwoman is pulled into the ongoing ‘Knight Terrors' event. A solid issue mixes rough horror and crime elements alongside bits and pieces of the main ongoing to create the right kind of tie-in comic issue. Read Full Review

Knight Terrors: Catwoman #1 is an event tie-in book done right. It's enjoyable on its own terms and for those into the event, this should be an enticing spin off to check out. Tini Howard keeps the story relevant to her main run on the character, making it easier to recommend to long time readers while giving the storyline more substance. Additionally, Leila Leiz's pencils and Marissa Louise's colors are some of the best I've seen in a while, making this a complete package. Read Full Review

This might be my favorite chapter of "Knight Terrors" yet, spinning a web that is not only indicative of the weird middle ground Selina has been occupying lately, but is just plain entertaining to read. Read Full Review

If anything, this feels more like a Black Label alternate take on Catwoman than an event tie-in. Still, the art by Leila Leiz has a great noir feel to it, and this first issue is intriguing enough to make me very curious about the second issue. Read Full Review

Catwoman has turned over a new leaf in her real world but finds herself stuck in an off-version of her past life. She's reunited with her sister, but they are struggling to reconcile. It's not so much nightmarish and it's kind of sad, or at least, bittersweet. There is a particular part where she fully realizes she's in a dream and actually wants to be there, it's quite touching really. Her nightmare seems to be her past and regrets which makes Knight Terrors: Catwoman #1 one of the most personal entries in the series to date. Read Full Review

Knight Terrors: Catwoman #1 has left us hoping for a peaceful resolution to this ongoing crisis. The new takes we see fit the world so well that we can only hope for the best on the other side of the crossover. Readers are treated to unique art at the same time as a sincere and strong look at Catwoman. Knight Terrors is looking to become an unforgettable event, and Catwoman's is one piece of the story that propels it to new heights. Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - Ian Miller Jul 20, 2023

Tini Howard takes another break from her "Catwoman of Crime" tale, this one mandated by the Knight Terrors event, and foreshadows some of the tensions present in her main run. Though she and artist Leila Leiz manage a few moments of strong emotion between Batman and Catwoman, it's all a frustrating retread from things we've seen over and over again in the past half decade. "The boring Knightmares arc from Tom King's Batman but with all the formal experimentation replaced by event branding" isn't exactly an inspiring concept for a crossover, and I've largely given this event a miss. But another reviewer described this issue as an Elseworlds story, and I'd much rather read an Elseworlds story than a dream sequence, so here I am.

It's a good thing that caught my eye, because the incoherent and inaccurate solicit is hardly inspiring, but the comic itself was great. I'm certainly interested in the exploration of Selina and Maggie's relationship from an angle where Maggie gets to be something other than a victim, and the art by Leila Leiz is fantastic. This was worth making an exception for

This was one of the better Knight Terrors tie-ins I've read. I thought this issue was written pretty well and it felt a bit different from some of the other tie-ins. I'm definitely interested to see how this turns out. The art was pretty cool as well and I thought that it fit the story being told. While I do wish most of DC's lineup wasn't paused for this event, I can't complain when I think this is the best Catwoman issue from Tini Howard in a while.

I am really suprised it was the best catwoman book that tini howard has written in a long time and again for the first time batcat interaction had meaning and i liked that i hope she can keep this pace for gotham war too and i would be glad to keep giving her high rates if it wasnot for maggie being sister zero which i dont like it would be a 10 out of 10 from me but i just dont like the idea the maggie that i love was definatly from ram v era but all said a really solid issue

Whoever drew this cover was working hard. It's Tini's Catwoman, it's... boring, even with references to Catwoman's first miniseries.

DC didn’t look far to helm Selina Kyle’s entry into the Knight Terrors event, with CATWOMAN scribe Tini Howard penning the story with Leila Leiz on art, Marissa Louise providing colors, and Becca Carey doing the lettering.

There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason as to which event tie-ins are actual tie-ins that drive the overall plot forward vs. tie-ins that are seemingly ways to add extra titles to the event, but this story falls into the latter group. This story puts the spotlight on Selina’s anti-hero past while on a mission with her sister, Magadlene Kyle/Sister Zero. Selina comes face-to-face with the duality of her past actions and whether or not some of the more nefarious decisions were actually for Gotham’s more

Much better than tini's usual output, but still not very good. This feels like an elseworld comic rather than a Knight Terror's tie-in. The solicit is (thankfully) misleading, there are weird changes of scene that give whiplash, silly things like Maggie smashing a crate and saying she's destroying the weapons even though the weapons are clearly fine, and tini still needs to learn to read her dialogue out loud before finalizing it.
