"This is the best Superman story I've ever written." So says living legend Marv Wolfman, and when you've written hundreds of Superman stories as he has, it means a great deal. This gem of a tale - written and drawn from 2006-2009 for the SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL series - explodes from the DC archives as a triumphant tale of Clark Kent's fateful first days in Metropolis, which were far from easy. His early failures almost ensured there would never be a hero called Superman. Powerful writing and stunning art combine to conjure an inspiring story that needed to be published, one you will never forget, from a pair of master storytellers.

DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd Feb 7, 2019

This heavily character driven story is a must for Superman fans! While out of any particular continuity, it is essentially part of a longer Superman screenplay. It reads like it and finds a lot of new ground in its introduction of Lois Lane and Clark's challenges upon his arrival in Metropolis. Don't pass this one up! The forward by Marv Wolfman is worth the price of admission"wait"this isn't a movie? Read Full Review

This 100-page 4 chapter story is well worth finding, though I understand it is selling out at many stores. Hopefully it will get a second print or be added to some collection. It deserves to stay in print and available to fans who would like to read a really nice "behind the scenes" story about Clark Kent as he transitions to his more famous identity. I also appreciate that no attempt is made to shoehorn it into current DC continuity. It's a nice tale that stands on its own outside of the shackles of a continuity that changes fairly regularly anyway. This is highly recommended for all fans of the man behind the Superman. ComicBook.com - Russ Burlingame Feb 6, 2019

Man and Superman feels a bit like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; it is not what you might expect at first glance, but it is a near-perfect interpretation of the story its creators set out to tell, and the minute you finish it, you want to pick it back up and "go back into the movie," so to speak. Comic Crusaders - David Howard Feb 7, 2019

Marv Wolfman has created something truly special here. As I stated in the beginning, these are the types of Superman stories I love. This is who the Man of Steel is. He is a Kansas farm-boy who happened to be born light years away. He is a good MAN who has the powers of a god. Wolfman gives us all of this and wraps a heartwarming story of transition, growth, emerging super-villains and emerging super-heroes around it. Meanwhile, the impeccable artwork of Claudio Castellini brings this tale to life. The artwork is classic and timeless. It is a book that radiates hope and goodness with its rendering of Clark Kent and Superman. In all, this is a superb piece of storytelling and a book that I highly recommend Read Full Review

    AIPT - Nathan Simmons Feb 6, 2019

This is my personal favorite standalone Superman story I've read in quite some time. Pick this one up to see one of the industry's best writers firing on all cylinders - and to hopefully encourage DC to take more chances with unpublished works! Read Full Review

Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield Feb 6, 2019

It's impressive that this was written well over a decade ago because this Luthor very much feels like a villain of the moment. But as good as the supporting cast is, this is a story about Clark Kent becoming Superman, and realizing that he can carry these burdens on this back. And on that note, it's a definite win. Wolfman's dogged determination to make sure this sees the light of day has resulted in a great comic. Read Full Review
