Hello, sweetie, you're absolutely pathetic. You know that, right? Luckily for you, Daddy's home and he's here to make all the bad feelings go away. As Ivy prepares to go international with her mission to save the Earth, there's only one thing standing in her way-the brave man whom Ivy stole her powers from.
‘Poison Ivy' is a hauntingly beautiful terrifying nightmarish peek into the mind of one of the best DC Comics villains as she struggles to complete her deadly mission against humanity while struggling with love and trauma, and the conscience that she tries to fight against. Every element of this series is just clicking and knowing that there will be a whole new story-line beyond the next one is fantastic, because this is a series everyone needs to be reading right away. This whole story walks a very fine line and does it well and as always the art bumps its impact up to 11, this time with some truly chilling images throughout. Read Full Review
POISON IVYs strength to this point has been in presenting character vignettes that link together to form a larger, ongoing narrative. Each issue presented insightful interactions with other people even as Ivy intends to kill off most if not all of them. POISON IVY #5 breaks that pattern. Ivy doesnt spend any enlightening time with other people. The issue is not self-contained. As noted, this is obviously setting up the end of the arc. Unfortunately giving into that necessity results in the weakest story to this point. But the art, even more, interesting than previous issues, more than makes up for it. Read Full Review
This continues to be one of the darkest Poison Ivy stories ever told, as G. Willow Wilson takes us deep inside the twisted psyche of Pamela Isley like never before. Read Full Review
This has been an amazing series so far, and if Wilson keeps going with this… then it will be one of my favourite Ivy stories. Ever. I'm holding back my definite answer until we get some more answers. The art and writing had been so awesome lately that I can not imagine this series ending. Read Full Review
If you're not reading G. Willow Wilson's Poison Ivy, you should be. It is a diamond in the rough of DC comic books coming out in this day and age. It's taken a character whose personality was lost and given her definition and complexity again. I don't know if issue #6 will stick the landing as a conclusion to Ivy's first arc, but for now, I'm incredibly happy with this series.Score: 9/10 Read Full Review
Pamela was running out of road at the beginning of the issue, but Wilson is also running out of road, narratively speaking. The central heart of what shes exploring is spilling out all over the place, and there hasnt been a lot of work done to keep it all carefully composed. The emotions of the story feel very real and very compelling, but any larger vision of anything beyond Pam doesnt really seem to be in clear focus as the series approaches its sixth issue. Outstanding script and up there with some of the best psychological horror I've read in comics ever. Genius is what comes to mind as Pams mind wanders but is still able to focus to a point. The way she uses past problems and Batman to help her psychosis turn into a weapon is truly wonderful and is a joy to read.
Pure excellence.
Hallucination Batman is officially my favorite character in this comic
Probably the best thing about this book is the art. The images perfectly understand what needs to be done so to make the most impact out of the plot.
This was the best issue yet for me. I'm not sure if anyone else felt this way or if this was the intent of this issue, but, in my eyes, this felt somewhat representative of a victim of sexual assault and/or grooming. Either way, this was still really good. The hallucination of Batman was cool, but I felt like he was there for a little too long. The Green Man's design is really cool and I think Takara does another amazing job drawing him. Plus, Level does a great job with the first eight pages of the book. While I'm not usually a fan of the artist changing in the middle of the issue, it wasn't that strong of a change here and I thought both artists were great.
The first pages of the comic were raw. The batman bits were fun but a little too much. Tho, I like the way the story is going, and how finally Ivy is really dying while her plan is far from being completed. I'm really looking forward to the conclusion of this arc in next issue (Kinda nervous tbh).
Great overall.
This was another good issue. I like that she is hallucinating Batman. That is a very nice dynamic and plot device. The conflict with Woodrue has some high stakes. Overall, I'm enjoying it.
Artwork is off the charts. Ivy faces her nightmares.
