You might think you know Gorilla City, but you don't. Not a soul who has gone looking for the secret kingdom has ever returned. You'd think the Rogues would know better than to go searching...but they either don't know or just don't care. The down-on-their-luck ex-cons are back together for the heist of a lifetime, but every time Captain Cold thinks he's got things all figured out, the rug is pulled out from under him. And even if they make it to Gorilla City alive, they have a version of Gorilla Grodd unlike anything you've ever seen waiting for them... Continuing this groundbreaking neo-noir take on some of the DCU's greatest villains!
Rogues #2 is an excellent, extended read. It is a heavy comic tinged with sadness, but the little breather at the start is refreshing. Williamson is extending a world filled with questions and leaves me desperate to find out more. The tension is always high and the characters are phenomenally written. Seeing the Rogues, a team of villains who are actually likeable, be this broken and in pain is depleting to the soul, yet the depth in each of their personalities shows exactly why they are so interesting. This is a classic heist thriller with some fantastic DC twists, and it's shaping up as one of the best Black Label books. Read Full Review
Rogues #2 is fascinating in that it finds ways to surprise you on almost every page. Williamson subverts expectations (in a good way) by creating an unexpected version of Gorilla City with a Grodd, unlike one you've seen before. This story is memorable for all the right reasons. Read Full Review
ROGUES #2 by Joshua Williamson is real, raw, and develops each member of the team incredibly well. Moreover, the juxtaposition of Gorilla City and what it represents along with the character development and evolution of the cast is what makes ROGUES #2 so dynamic and encapsulating. There is this darkness that hovers over the issue that just comes across as so relatable and authentic like nothing else DC COMICS is spitting out today. Read Full Review
If you are only going to read one book this week, make it ROGUES #2. Captain Cold and the Rogues have found Gorilla City, but now they need to stick to the plan! Read Full Review
Rogues #2 takes what works with the Rogues so well and puts it front and center. This is a group that is its own support even with all the sniping and arguing. They're a family whether they recognize it or not and they each bring something to the table. They're the screwups and villains you're sort of cheering for and want to succeed and finally find peace and happiness but know that'll likely never happen. Read Full Review
Rogues #2 takes the story in a few different directions but manages to stay consistent and does a good job in putting these characters into a familiar story in such a way to make it feel fresh. But it does feel like there aren't a lot of stakes here. Read Full Review
This is probably the best Black Label book of DC
Amazing premise here, this was a massive improvement to the first issue in every way possible
Loved some of the social commentary and satirical elements here by Williamson, this may be the most ambitious book he's worked on!
Some good character moments and a bit of social commentary sprinkled in make this issue shine.
Really solod issue
Just nothing to be excited about. Okay story with horrible art, all at a high price.
