This issue also suffers from some uneven art. Of course, there are three artists involved which accounts for that. Paulo Siqueira, Barry Kitson, and Eddy Barrows all contribute here. Superman/Wonder Woman #7 had a limited amount of time to introduce the aspects necessary to make the Doomsday tie-in understandable. However, Charles Soule is able to tell an emotional tale behind the veil of crossover shenanigans. The artwork is not able to keep the same level of cohesion that the writing does this month, but it is still a beautiful addition to the Superman/Wonder Woman family. Read Full Review

Superman/Wonder Woman #7 is a prologue issue for a crossover, and therefore doesn't build up a ton of momentum for the characters. The most interesting parts of the issue are simply setting the board for events to occur in Superman #30, rather than build the story of Superman/Wonder Woman in any major way. After such an explosive conclusion to issue #6 this comic loses steam fairly quickly, even though the writing and art are not poorly done. Readers who are invested in the Superman/Wonder Woman relationship will enjoy the softer moments of this issue, but if you aren't looking to dive into the Doomed crossover there isn't a whole lot here for 4 bucks. Despite the fact that this issue may be one of the weakest entries in the series yet, Superman/Wonder Woman #7 still remains a decent enough read thats far from the worst Superman title to come out of the New 52. Hopefully the "Superman Doomed" storyline that "Superman/Wonder Woman" #7 is serving as prologue to works well; I'm enjoying "Superman/Wonder Woman" too much to want it derailed by a big crossover. It was bound to happen eventually, I didn't enjoy Superman/Wonder Woman #7.  It is an average comic that sets up Doomed, but the rest gives fans nothing but a been-there-done-that feeling and bad art.  I in no way expect this trend to continue because Charles Soule is just too good, but this month was a bummer. SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #7 will likely serve as a better read when it's collected in a trade or you have immediate access to the next issue. Because, just like it says on the cover, it's a prelude to the upcoming story Doomed. There's a little bit of emotional follow-up to the nuclear incident and it's nice to see these two out of their element, even if it's just for a little bit. But for the most part, this issue establishes a lot of questions and now it's just a matter of time to see how it's all handled. At any rate, that final page most certainly has me anxious to see what's next. Sure, the villain's hand emerging first is something we've seen so many times before, but given the action-packed nature of this book, I'm anticipating some massively fun brawls. Read Full Review

Overall, Superman/Wonder Woman #7 suffers from filler-issue syndrome, questionable characterisation and a more shallow depiction of the titular relationship than we've seen thus far from Charles Soule. Given that this $3.99 comic featuring two of DC's flagship trinity, I do expect more. Having a bunch of vague scientists track Doomsday as he hangs out at the bottom of the ocean just isn't very interesting. But I remain a little hopeful that these writers have something fun planned. Read Full Review

It could be worse. Relationships have lived on that principle - but they've also died on it, and rightfully so. No couple should ever expect to be perfect, and no one should ever expect for them to be. Sometimes the fireworks don't go off. Sometimes the momentum cuts out. The important thing is to recognize it, and to compensate moving forward. Will Superman/Wonder Woman find a way to regain the emotional intensity of a month ago, or will this just be a winter fling? Only time will tell, but I'd like to have faith that this super-power couple will find a way to bring their spark back. Read Full Review

It is this sort of uneven characterization that has plagued the New 52 all along, especially Superman and Wonder Woman. I would have actually liked it more if Soule kept portraying Diana as he saw her. At least this book would be internally consistent. I have to say, between the easy ending of the Zod arc, the off storytelling, and the schizophrenic Diana, this should be my last issue of this title. But I will stick around through Doomed. With very uneven art and an uneven resolution to last issue dramatics, Superman/Wonder Woman #7 is a very weak issue. Which is a disappointment since Charles Soule has been knocking it out of the park in previous issues. I do hope that this issue was the result of DC editorial forcing a Superman Doomed tie-in; depriving Soule of the pages he needed to give Clark and Diana proper resolution to last issue's developments. A breather issue that ties up strands from the last arc and sets up the upcoming Doomsday crossover. The best bit was a couple page scene at a dance club, that just nails what makes the Clark/Diana pairing work as surprisingly well as is does (at least in Soule's capable hands)
