Whassup, nerds? It's yer favorite irresponsible blogger, Timmy Olsen! In this month's episode of "Timmy's Bros," someone requested we get Batman to crack who moidered that Daily Planet photo-hack, Jimmy Olsen. Like how many wheels does a guy have to steal off the Batmobile to get a Bat-dude's attention around here?
Supermans Pal Jimmy Olsen remains the funniest book that DC is currently publishing, by a mile. As it hits its first third (the book is a 12-issue limited series), its larger design becomes slightly more visible, which makes it all the more exciting. Read Full Review
Whether you're looking for smart or entertaining superhero comics, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen is the best place to start, as it never falters on either account. Read Full Review
I hope this book somehow gets continued in some fashion. Maybe a two time a year special? A Superman Family anthology? Hope everyone is reading this! Read Full Review
I like the direction of this book as Fraction is showing different layers to Jimmy and setting up and elaborate and engaging mystery. Combined with Liebers tone appropriate art this has been a very special title with no signs of slowing down. Read Full Review
It can’t be overstated how fun this issue and series is. After seeing Jimmy go through different transformations via body mutations, it was an interesting change seeing Jimmy’s mind be tested and his personality be split. And the underlying mystery of who has it out for Superman’s Pal is still a pull. But it seems that will be put on hold because Jimmy has to answer to an enemy Timmy made, as, in the next issue, the Olsen/Batman prank war begins. Read Full Review
The issue ends on a funny note. Fraction and Lieber really have done a great job here. Lieber in particular is an underused artist who shines in this series. It is very funny and very goofy at times but it is also highly enjoyable. I look forward to where they take us next! Read Full Review
Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #4 isn't exactly for new readers, but it is a good place for current readers to get a better grasp on the series as a whole. It doesn't have quite as much zaniness as the rest of the series has had, but doesn't have any shortage in jokes and fun. Read Full Review
Fraction and Company tell a convincing story of a man slowly losing grip on reality while capturing the art and tone of a silver age comic. Read Full Review
The art by Steve Lieber is easily the highlight of the issue, especially in the double-paged spread of the history of the Luthor and Olsen clans, and it's great to see the artist paired with a writer who knows how to bring out the best in his style. Read Full Review
Steve Lieber does some great work with the art in this issue. I really enjoy the style of the art and its retro feel. Read Full Review
Despite not having the referential power of #3, this issue simultaneously keeps the momentum and scatterbrain pace racing along. Read Full Review
Forget Leviathan, this is a real mystery comic
Prelude:
Well it's time for irresponsible blogger, Timmy Olsen! This series has been absolutely amazing and Fraction is a great writer so this should keep the quality up.
The Good:
Timmy Olsen. Every single thing "Timmy" did was amazing.
While I've come to like Fraction's multi-story structure, I rejoiced with the more linear style shown here.
Lieber's art was great but come on. Why wouldn't it be?
Still keeping the Silver Age vibe alive.
The Bad:
Continuity is a bit off but I'm having too much fun here.
Conclusion:
While the continuity is a bit off considering current events, this book has been too fun to even care about that. Way too much fun to be had h more
Oh my god I had such a good time reading this and I’m not sorry.
Most fun I have had reading a comic in years. Captures the sillyness
Probably my favorite issue so far, as it was the funniest and most focused one yet.
Why is it so great?
Only thing disappointing is that it ends at 12 issues. This should be an ongoing.
This is an outstanding comic!
This series has just one purpose, to make you smile ear to ear, and it does it very well
