MILLAR-CAPULLO's epic, sell-out sci-fi fantasy story continues. On Bonnie's intrepid trek to find her dead husband, Roy-Boy has finally picked up Harry's scent. Will the couple reunite, or does the message scrawled in blood spell further danger?
Overall this is a slower-paced and more though-provoking issue of Reborn. During these quieter moments, its nice to see Bonnie reflect and ponder things, exploring her feelings and embracing her emotions. It feels like we are getting to know her more, as small fragments about her past and the way she looks at life is revealed to us. Im looking forward to venturing back into the Dark Lands with Bonnie and straight into the gates of hell. Read Full Review
Personally, I can't wait for the conclusion of the series. Not because I want it to end because I want to see HOW it will end. Look for my review next month and pick up this book now. Read Full Review
Millar uses this issue for retrospect, allowing the characters to look back on their previous lives. Allowing them to have conversations that they weren't able to in the past. Reminiscing about their time together and how it all goes by so fast, the cycle from kid to elderly. Not only that but how this afterlife can give them another chance to do more and start a new life all over again. Read Full Review
A strong penultimate issue gets you inside characters head, reminds you what makes life great, and looks good doing it. Read Full Review
Reborn #5 may not be quite as spectacular as the previous instalments of the series, but one thing it does do is set up the finale beautifully. Giving us some interesting twists, as well as some powerful character interaction, the creative team once again produce a product worth picking up, leaving this reader eager for the grand finale. Reborn remains bad, and no one is surprised. So, let's continue the guessing game! #6 ends the series, and I predict these two things will happen: One, it will end on a dues ex machina; two, Bonnie's mother will be the evil chimera the big-bad is boning off screen. Read Full Review
What a great story with such warmth. Millar does do a great job making Bonnie and her dad have a real connection. It's so genuine and much appreciated. The art of Capullo and Glapion is fantastic and the coloring of Plascencia is nothing to sneeze at either. Can't wait for the final issue.
Things slow down a bit here and we dig a little deeper into character. I liked the closer look at the idea that, even though it seems like a dream, not everything in this afterworld works out. It's all a bit silly but it is also unabashedly heartfelt. This series promised a bit more than it is early on, but it is, in and of itself, beautifully drawn and very entertaining.
One of the better issues.
