SERIES PREMIERE
Tomorrow is a harmonious paradise thanks to five families who make everything perfect...for the price of one child per household. Now, as that bill comes due, a son expected to give everything for a family that never loved him and an affluent daughter determined to destroy utopia must unite to end one generation's unnaturally protracted reign.
New York Times-bestselling writer RICK REMENDER (LOW, DEADLY CLASS, Uncanny X-Force) joins forces with superstar MAX FIUMARA (Amazing Spider-Man, FOUR EYES, Lucifer) to take you through the dark science fiction world of THE SACRIFICERS!
The Sacrificers is set in a weird world full of strange creatures with a wild setup that has unanswered questions piled high like mountains… but it's off to an absolutely fantastic start! Read Full Review
So, the opening issue looks really good. There is clearly a lot of world-building to be done over the course of the series. Remender is taking his time with it. The world rests in the background as the drama of these two families gradually finds its way to the page. So much is seen through the eyes of the two children, even as they are clearly given smaller corners of the narrative at the beginning of a hopefully long and satisfying serial. Read Full Review
THE SACRIFICERS #1 is a shockingly deep, heartbreaking, whimsical tale about the domestic troubles of a father who happens to be a god, and the painful struggles of a farming father bound by service to the gods. You could spend days unpacking the layers of meaning and messages in Remenders emotionally deep story, and Fiumaras art is heart-achingly good. Read Full Review

:The Sacrificers #1 excels in presenting a brutal and violent world that paradoxically holds an underlying layer of beauty. Remender's adeptness at transporting readers into such captivating and ruthless landscapes is evident once again. This issue lays a strong foundation for what promises to be an enthralling series with much more to discover and ponder in the tumultuous land of Tomorrow. Read Full Review
Creators Rick Remender and Max Fiumara take us into a unique fantasy world that's both beautifully whimsical and mercilessly brutal. We can't wait to see more of how this captivating story unfolds. Read Full Review
With Remender and Fiumara at the helm, this series has the potential to cement itself alongside the Sagas and Black Sciences of this world in terms of A+ science fiction comics. With a few thinly-veiled allusions of what's still to come in the post-comic notes, this is a truly fantastic start to a new series that I cannot recommend highly enough. Read Full Review

Overall this first issue does a great job exploring the characters and building out the world around them. Throughout this issue I felt conflicted about some of the characters based on their actions. Part of the issue was I was completely against them and but then towards the end I almost understood their reasoning for their actions. In the end I was left with more questions than answers and I am excited to see where this story goes! Read Full Review
In taking its time The Sacrificers #1 proves to be an excellent introduction to the ambition contained in any high fantasy saga worth its salt. Read Full Review
The world building done by Rick Remender and Max Fiumara through what appears to be our two leads for The Sacrificers #1 is handled well. It's a world you're experiencing through these leads rather than being given a dictionary of a mythology explained to you. Continuing this direction will make future issues even better than this debut as we discover more about The Sacrificers world. Read Full Review
The Sacrificers #1 introduces an intriguing world and potential concept but the first issue really lacks a “why” of it all. It teases what's to come and lacks context of what's presented. As is, it's a piece of the bigger puzzle. This one might be better read as a collection than individual issues. Read Full Review

I've always appreciated the way Remender goes about building the worlds in his stories. They always feel fully fleshed out, wildly unique, and populated with characters that make you want to care about what you're reading. The Sacrificers, while very deliberately paced, does not let down in that regard in the slightest, particularly when it comes to the character designs. I loved the way Fiumara drew the people who were made out of fire and Rokos was the standout. The art immediately let you know that this is an imposing, godlike and dutiful character and the conversation between him and his mistress hinted at so much more to come. I'm really looking forward to it.
Interresting
But the father of the young human-bird seem to have is own agenda or I didn't understand him.
He don't hesitate to hurt his son (I trust it was because he know he will be sacrificed). But then lie about his demise, ask to keep him around.
