Let's be clear, Chris Samnee and Mark Waid gave Natasha an incredible year. Marvel's never rocked espionage deeper than what this creative team has done with Black Widow. This series was the spy version of Ninja Warrior/Ultimate Beastmaster and it's what the Marvel Universe has long needed. Read Full Review
The waterfall that Natasha scales during the climactic chase scene definitely ended up being a metaphor for my reaction toBlack Widow#12. Read Full Review
We finally get a finale to this epic Black Widow story andonce again Chris Samnee and Mark Waid hit it out of the park with this book. Itwas an incredibly satisfying ending and gave me nearly everything I could wantfrom a comic book. Granted, there were a couple plot points that could havebeen done better but the book ultimately has been one of my favorites for thepast year. I hope Chris Samnee and Mark Waid come up with a new project becausewhen these two are together, incredible comics are made. Read Full Review
It's sad to say goodbye but wow what a ride this has been. Another solid issue to finish off what has been one of the best series from Marvel in years. If you haven't been following it go pick up the previous eleven issue and check out this incredible book. Read Full Review
Black Widow #12 is a phenomenal issue to cap off a phenomenal run that's a deserving candidate of an oversized hardcover in the future. Read Full Review
Black Widow #12 was an excellent conclusion to Mark Waid and Chris Samnee's run on Natasha Romanoff's latest ongoing series. As sad as I am for the series coming to an end it is great to see that Waid and Samnee were able to execute an ending that closed the book on this chapter in Black Widow's life in a satisfactory way. The place where Waid and Samnee leave Black Widow provides plenty of opportunities for other creative teams to do fun and exciting things with the character in the greater Marvel Universe. A fine conclusion that wraps things up and looks good doing it. Read Full Review
Perhaps everything wraps up a little too neatly and quickly in the end, but this issue still offers a satisfying look at a deadly agent trying to atone for the sins of her past. Read Full Review
I'm not completely sold on the tidy wrap up at the end, but I'd love to see Samnee and Waid take another turn at telling a Black Widow story again. This has been a fun series and a good focus on a character that everyone seems to love, but is so rarely used well. Read Full Review
Samnee and Waid bring Natasha's latest adventure to a close with incredible panache. This "Black Widow" series will assuredly be remembered fondly for years. Read Full Review
Great. This went by too fast.
Things come together a little too easy here, but goddamn, this was a great series. It has been unlike almost anything else on the stands, as each issue offered a treatise on how to tell a story through comic art, sequential art--his pacing of action, his rendering of emotion through movement--Chris Samnee was an absolute powerhouse here. Of course the dialogue by Waid was excellent, but this just succeeded as well as it did by Samnee's unparalleled skill as a comic maker. I am going to miss this.
Black Widow 12 concludes Waid’s Black Widow, which was lush was action and espionage but had no character development of personality for Natasha at all
The showdown between Widow and the Recluse is fought for the souls of the Baby Widows. It feels just a little disjointed, but it wraps up the series in glorious action movie style. Collect it in trades and ship it off to Marvel Studios; this volume would make a picture-perfect MCU Widow movie. Check out Mark Waid's "I had zero initial enthusiasm for this project" letter at the end; it just makes Chris Samnee's work all the more impressive. This was his baby from start to finish, and it turned out to be a very stylish, very fun ride.
And just like that it's over. It was one heck of a roller coaster and really hate to see this series end. Samnee and Waid did a great job with the little bit of writing they did and Samnee hit it out of the park with his great art.
Pretty Solid Action Packed Climax. Really, this final issue is an opportunity to talk about the series as a whole. I thought it was a really good comic with solid action and excellent art. Its nice to see that Mark Waid hasn't lost his groove, I was worried with Champions and his bland Avengers Run, but this and Archie show the man is still able to do good work. Natasha was a good character in this and I think the overarching plot was solid. Glad I picked this up.
