• Hawkeyes vs. Tracksuits. Final Round!
We will miss Hollingsworth's signature purple/orchid/slate blue trinity of colors. We will miss Aja's flawless style of wordless storytelling. Fraction and Aja's story of Clint and Kate as ordinary, unlikely heroes has changed comics forever. No other comic has gripped readers with pulse-racing stories like Hawkeye. The creators have thoughtfully tackledissues like disability and childhood abuse in unforgettable panels. Fraction and Aja have created the definitive Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, and one of the most memorable works of art in the history of comics. Read Full Review
Long waits can build anticipation to points where a book cannot recover, no matter how solid the content is. But Hawkeye #22, through brilliant work by Matt Fraction, David Aja and Matt Hollingsworth, exceeds expectations and delivers a satisfying ending that doesn't lose sight of what the book was. In the end, Hawkeye #22 succeeds by staying true to its characters and itself. Goodbye, bro, and thank you. Read Full Review
So there you have it, our last outing with Hawkguy as Matt Fraction and David Aja brings their Hawkeye run to a close. Having plenty of excitement, and some awesome twists, this is a comic that any fan of the archer will want, being the perfect way to end this awesome series. Read Full Review
Issue #22 is a wonderful, heart-breaking, tear-inducing ending to the one book I didnt want to end. If youve yet to indulge, what better time to start. I honestly cant recommend Hawkeye highly enough because even though in reality, this has nothing to do with me, sharing it is a little bit like sharing a piece of myself. Read Full Review
This book can be looked at as a creative team success story. It should be. Fraction and Aja not only gave readers a great book about Hawkeye, but stuck the landing in their finale, which does not happen all the time. When I see their names on a freshly pressed copy of D Man number 1, I'm getting in on the ground floor again. Read Full Review
All good things must come to an end. If anything, the delays have made this last longer in some ways. This is a seres I won't forget anytime soon. It's one I will definitely read over and over. If I were one to applaud comics I read, I would get up and give this a standing ovation. Fraction and Aja (and Annie Wu) did some really great things in this series. Let's hope we can see that magic again someday. Delays-shmeelays. It was worth the wait. Read Full Review
The world was never at stake in Hawkeye nor was a city in peril due to some alien menace. Clint, Kate, and Pizza Dog lived on the streets and so each story lived there too, and somehow, that became the most interesting and innovative thing we could read each month (or several months, but that's neither here nor there). Hawkeye #22 is simply the best possible ending for our archers. The building and the people in it are safe, everyone got their version of a happy ending, and it was a futzing honor to have experienced it. Team Hawkeye's aim was true at the beginning and now, it's just as true here at the end. Read Full Review
Hawkeye #22 is a conclusion that fits in perfectly with the rest of Fraction and Aja's story, while still allowing the reader to imagine where it moves forward from here. It's simultaneously serious, humorous, heartfelt, action-packed, and tranquil, all paired with the artistic team's near-cinematic grasp of how to show a story instead of merely telling it. By Marvel's own admission, this title resets the standard for the line. Indulge the erratic shipping schedule, it still plays like flagship to the final panel. This finale is not only the "Cinderella story" victory lap, it is also the most glorious mic drop on the super-hero narrative in years. Read Full Review
It's a day we hoped would never come, but Hawkeye's exit proves worthy of everything that's come before. The team of Matt Fraction and David Aja deliver a masterful finale, they, along with Matt Hollingsworth and letterer Chris Eliopoulos, turning in yet another thrilling chapter of character and heart. They don't push too hard or go too big, instead delivering the same understated, excellently plotted storytelling that's helped elevate Hawkeye from afterthought to fan favorite. It's an end to soon, but what a great end indeed. Thanks for the memories, bro. Read Full Review
HAWKEYE has always been one of the best books Marvel has been releasing since its launch back in 2013. It's rare to see a book so consistently good, and even rarer to see that book stick the landing. HAWKEYE 22 is a great finale to the tale of Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, and Pizza Dog and manages to wrap up everything with pinpoint accuracy. Read Full Review
Still, this series is a real gem - one of the highlights for Marvel from the past few years, it combines a great story, terrific art, compelling characters, unique storytelling and a great sense of fun. Read Full Review
It doesn't get much better than this. A solid send-off to one of the best runs I've read in recent years. Read Full Review
As a series, "Hawkeye" has been a rare success for a character that's struggled to maintain an ongoing title, and the final issue punctuates the heroic nature of Clint Barton and goes a long way towards establishing a modern-day incarnation of the character that has some real staying power. "Hawkeye" #22 is a wonderful wrap up to a wonderful series that sets the stage for the character's next ongoing series. Read Full Review
Hawkeye as a series is a crowning achievement for Marvel and all of comics. This will easily be one of my favorites for a long, long time. Read Full Review
A bittersweet ending for the Hawkeye story we didn't know we needed… Read Full Review
With some reservations on the selection of the ending and the left-over that surely can be expand further, Hawkeye #22 is a long delayed ultimate send-off that gives Clint Burton and other characters (particularly Kate "Hawkeye" Bishop) a more relatable, humane, iconic but heroically superhuman attributes. As a whole, Matt's Hawkeye will become one of the hallmarks of the postmodernist yet highly accessible superhero comic series so far! Long Live HAWKGUY! Read Full Review
It's a wonderful culmination of the community vibe of this entire run. It's just a shame that its timing has robbed it of some of its impact. Read Full Review
Bro Bro Bro Bro..... BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best comic book of the week.
Although I was kinda sore about having to wait so long for this, all bad feelings were forgotten. This was the perfect conclusion to a near-perfect series, utterly satisfying in every way. I want to make a point to praise Matt Hollingsworth in particular, because while Fraction and Aja (rightfully) get heaps of praise, Hollingsworth really does a lot to make this book what it is. One scene in particular, containing the orange glow of the sunset, just killed me. What a great futzin' book this was, one of the best 22 issue runs of comics I've ever read. I'm gonna miss it.
Nooooooo! It can't be over!!!!!!!!
Hawkyguy review, good. Bro.
A beautiful finish for a legendary run. Why can't more comics rise up to meet this standard?
This was one of the most amazing series I've read in a long time. I loved every page of hawkeye, rip Matt Fraction's hawkguy (don't worry Clint isn't actually dead) and I hope to see some series on your level once again some day.
