• Everything you know about the KING OF ATLANTIS is WRONG!
• This issue: THE SECRET HISTORY OF NAMOR!
Rated T+
The issue closes with a looming threat that Namor might face, though we hope the book continues to explore the emotional angle than merely be another exploration of Namor's war on humanity, as these elements have been far more engaging than the action-oriented elements have been in the series. This is a slight letdown in a series that I have loved so much. It just wasn't as shocking as advertised and was more setup than anything else. The flashback heavy issue even sets the art back a bit, but even though this is my least favorite issue of the series, I am still on the Invaders trolley big time. Read Full Review
A very interesting character study that manages to avoid all the negative tropes of retcons, "Invaders" #4 suffers a bit on pacing, but still delivers. Read Full Review
Namor is one of the most intriguing characters in all of Marvel and I just want nothing more than for him to get a happy ending. I always love some Charles Xavier too.
Someone give this poor man a hug.
A bit shaky at times but this issue lands the right feelings at the right moments that it works well overall. Charles Xavier gets dragged down yet again. Has the guy caused doom to everyone he touched.....it's a bit much. The art is great and I love the combo for past and present from Guice and Magno.
Another great issue. Namor is rather sympathetic once you get past the whole tyrant king thing.
Really enjoying this book so far. Very strong story-telling, great characterisation, and beautiful art.
THE GOOD:
-This was an outstanding issue. I loved the backstory and the emotion is still incredibly strong.
-YES! Even if it's just one issue, an issue of nearly entirely Guice's art was satisfying, especially after an issue of 100% Magno's
-Namor is fantastic. He's written so well.
-Wow. The emotion here hit really hard.
THE BAD:
-I feel like there maybe wasn't as much that liked about the issue this time around. The few things I liked, I liked a lot, and there wasn't anything I particularly disliked, it's just that I can usually find a few more things to write in the good column for an Invaders issue.
Needless retcons to serve the writer's pitch instead of the characters are maddening. Bucky is amateurish here (even if the gun has blanks). Hammond is dull.
