Most tie-in books feel like grist for the mill, but War of the Realms Strikeforce: The Dark Elf Realm #1 winds up being a surprisingly potent showcase for both Hill and Yu, and makes me want to see them team up again sooner rather than later. Read Full Review
This issue still wraps up very nicely but it sort of feels like maybe a page or two is missing. Still, the creative team does a fantastic job. It's so good I'm actually kind of annoyed with Marvel editorial. This has no business being just a one-shot, one-issue team-up. Read Full Review
Rounding out the team is Matt Hollingsworth, whose vibrant color palette keeps in line with Matthew Wilsons on the main War of the Realms title, making for some nice visual consistency, even though Yus style doesnt resemble Russell Dautermans in the slightest. Its easy to overlook the importance of coloring throughout a major crossover event like this, but this is a clear case of how much it can make a difference in helping disparate titles feel alike. A skippable issue that is still really good and fun if you're looking for a little moreWar of the Realms. Read Full Review
If you like character studies with your action check this book out. Hill and Yu do a good job pushing each of the heroes and it should be fun to see how they work together as a team. Read Full Review
I would have thought that by now the tie-ins would start to feel redundant and unnecessary, but somehow the stories all seem to keep drawing me in. Read Full Review
While not an essential read just yet, this was a fun setup of a team that I am already loving. The art is good and even if you arent reading every War of the Realm book, I suggest at least checking out this first issue. Read Full Review
It makes for a cool little character piece if you're interested in any of the five members, and there's some funny banter in there as well. But this isn't an absolute must-read for fans of the ongoing event. Read Full Review
The third and fourth issues of the main title have the Strikeforce heroes teams, but they do not get much focus. So, that's why these one-shots exist. Really liked this one. Can't wait for the next one!
I actually really enjoyed this as it really nails these characters. Punisher is great, especially.
The majority of this team’s action is in War of the Realms 3 yet this one-shot reveals how this rag tag Strikeforce assembled and what their mission is. Though unnecessary to the main event, War of the Realms Strikeforce: Dark Elf Realm is a violent romp through Svartalfheim with some of Marvel’s most violent characters
It's not mandatory reading for War of the Realms but I do recommend it for some worthwhile flushing out of Frank Castle and Lady Freyja's character motivations.
I may come back and uprate this if Freyja actually does face some dark consequences before this war is over.
Not a fan of a lot of the dialogue or the pacing and everybody seemed pretty dang forthcoming about their deepest secrets and fears.
