....there were literally two scenes embellishing on the emotion thing, but I guess you would rather wait and give me the "told you so" moment in a future issue. Sigh.
Rookie Green Lantern Sojourner "Jo" Mullein's investigation of the first murder in 500 years hits a snag when the murderer is murdered. Whatever's going on, it's something to do with Switchoff, a highly illegal genetic cocktail that restores dangerous feelings to the emotionless citizens of the City Enduring...
I can't say enough good things about this issue. I really enjoyed it. Jemisin choice in having Jo not using her lantern all the time or at every instance like most Green Lanterns makes her such a different power ring wielder. It's almost reminiscent of Green Lantern Hannu's use of his ring in that when we see Jo go all out, it's going to be a big thing. Jo's minimal use of her ring has made her even more interesting which isn't easy to do with a Green Lantern. N.K. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell are creating a new, interesting approach and chapter in Green Lantern lore with Far Sector with no signs of letting up. Read Full Review

Its refreshing to see a Green Lantern story thats not about world-ending stakes and the clashing of godlike entities, but instead about law enforcement personnel trying to solve a crime. The fact that Jemison and Campbell have crafted such a beautiful, noir-influenced world for this Green Lantern to inhabit makes it that much more exciting. Read Full Review
Far Sector #2 (Jemisin, Campbell, Bennett) dives ever deeper in the City Enduring and its resident Green Lantern as Jo begins to gain a better understanding of just how pervasive a lack of emotion can be. Read Full Review
Jamal Campbell's art is breathtaking. There are so many amazing visual moments in this issue. One of my favorite sequences is the chase through the city, but Campbell not only makes the action look great, but the characters are beautifully detailed. Read Full Review
Sojourner Mullein left a good impression as the latest addition to the human cast of Green Lanterns, with N.K. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell crafting one of the most memorable starts to a Green Lantern comic since the introduction of Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz. Read Full Review
Far Sector #2 and Far Sector #1 are easily the most fascinating original sci-fi story DC has crafted in some time, this fusion of the Green Lantern mythos and an original planet created by sci-fi author NK Jemisin has delivered a strong second issue that buried any of my minor quibbles with the first. Far Sector #2 is a fantastic follow-up. It adds depth to characters and the world while moving the murder mystery forward. Only two issues in a twelve-issue series, I'm already saddened there's an endpoint. This is a world I already want to see more of. Read Full Review
The mystery continues on the City Enduring. Green Lantern Sojourner Mullein loses her suspect but gains valuable intel on the species that the killer may or may not belong to. Mullein also learns about the effects of switchoff and how it may be connected to the murder investigation. It turns out switchoff is more prevalent than what the council lets on. Read Full Review
So far this creative team has set-up a brilliant mystery here. How do you draw the line between what you read on their faces, and what they express through their words? Where do you drawn the line between having real emotions and simulating it out of basic habit? Far Sector #2 assured us all that finding the answers to all of this is going to be easier said than done. Read Full Review
Far Sector #2 is a solid installment of this 12 issue mini-series. The world building is effective, and Jemisin really lets the reader learn along with Green Lantern, Jo Mullein. There are a few doubts about how the sci-fi references will function in the long run, but at this point they are working adequately. As this case develops, there is a real sense that there will be a massive twist/ reveal that will elevate this story to a different level. Read Full Review
One of the biggest draws with the series is the fantastic artwork of Jamal Campbell, who has definitely risen to the challenge of creating a unique world in the DC Universe. Each page looks more and more majestic. Campbell is in lockstep with Jemisin in terms of setting up the aesthetics of this sector and its led to a gorgeous backdrop for Sojourners adventures. After an issue focused on building the world of Far Sector, this issue seems to focus on the wrong things. The mystery takes a back seat to more exploration into the history and make-up of the city rather than the craziness going on in it at present. Green Lantern Sojourner Mullein has yet to get a defined voice, although the opening was a nice sign of what we could see her deal with. Hopefully, the next issue will focus more on her journey. When all is said and done, Far Sector #2 is a solid continuation of Green Lantern Mullein's debut. While the story is a bit slow, it continues to flesh out its setting in important ways. This solid writing, coupled with its excellent visual representation, continues to make Far Sectora worthwhile read. Read Full Review
If you're already invested in this series and intend to see it through, this is a good and important issue. But it doesn't stand up on its own and just isn't very entertaining on its own. Read Full Review
Beautiful art, masterful worldbuilding, and a main character that you just can't help but root for immediately. Definite buy!
I am really loving this series.
It's starting to give me some Blade Runner vibes. GL meets Blade Runner? Yes please.
Liked this better than #1. Jemisin puts so much depth into the alien culture, it just feels so real
Better than the first issue, but still a bit boring
I find this all a bit boring. I don't really care about sci-fi in general. This doesn't do anything to change my mind on that. It's fine, I just don't care. I barely have anything to say about it. It's sterile and bland.
Art is still beautiful. Emotions are still a big problem and I think that neither the writer nor the artist actually thought about the implications of this before doing it. Murder plot still not super interesting.
Not sold on the lead character and found this issue to be less interesting than the first. Not sure if I'll continue or not.
