As someone who hasn’t really liked the usage of Prime in the past, Superman #36 really hooked me. I find myself thoroughly enjoying this direction for the character and really hope it sticks. This is definitely going to be a fun experience and I can’t wait to see how it plays out. Read Full Review

Comic Book Clique - Jacob Kent

Superman #36 combines fourth wall breaking meta-humor, character depth and pathos, deep cuts from older DC comics and events, and a deeply compelling new, if not temporary, status quo for the title. Joshua Williamson’s portrayal of Superboy-Prime has stolen the spotlight since he re-introduced him in the series last year and for the foreseeable future, it is now officially Prime Time each month. The character has gone from nearly universally hated to widely liked over the last few months, and it’ll be fascinating to see if he can actually pull off being the star of one of DC’s flagship titles. This first issue indicates he’s off to a strong start. Read Full Review

    KPB Comics - Joseph Pines

Well and truly, this is the most I’ve enjoyed a Superman book in some time. That’s truly saying something, given that this run was already really well written and well-illustrated from the very beginning, but this is a sign that Williamson and Mora are not looking to step on the brakes anytime soon. Superman #36 is a prime example of what makes comics so fantastic (pun fully intended).< Read Full Review

The ultimate redemption story begins as Superboy-Prime crashes into the public eye! Williamson delivers on a very creative and fun take involving the polarizing character. Mora and Sanchez swing huge for a knockout via excellent art. The Prime of Tomorrow is here and the DCU will never be the same! Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Mar 25, 2026

Superman #36 serves as a compelling pivot point for the franchise that successfully balances meta-humor with a genuine attempt at character redemption. The stunning visual execution by Mora and Sánchez elevates a familiar replacement hero premise into something that feels essential for long-term fans. While the narrative occasionally stumbles over its own exposition, the core journey of a villain trying to find a home in a world that hates him is worth the investment. 8.5/10We hope you found this article interesting.
