This is a series that more people should be paying attention to. As I said before, it might be titled Superman/Wonder Woman, but their relationship feels like a secondary plotline as opposed to the book focusing most of the attention on the romance like I thought it would. Charles Soule and his amazing creative team showed me that my faith in them was well placed though! In a world of superheroes and gods, they've managed to make it seem more real than a lot of comics I've read because of their attention to detail when it comes to the great character moments happening everywhere. I wasn't sure what to expect out of a comic like this, but so far it has avoided all manner of cliche when it comes to the actual relationship. Superman/Wonder Woman #3 was a nice step up in quality. The relationships between everyone, the dialogue, and the emotional aspects were strong and helped make the characters more real in a way. The issue is a relative light hearted one, which is not a bad thing, though we will have to wait until 2014 to see more of what Zod will be up to. Soule successfully moves the overall narrative forward while also throwing plenty of variables into the mix. There's a lot of buildup in this issue and you can definitely feel all of the factors circulating. The cliffhanger's something we've all seen coming a mile away, but everything else has me incredibly anxious to witness how it'll all play out. 'Superman/Wonder Woman #3" is a really great read. You would expect a title devoted to the relationship of two characters to be more romantic and cheesey, but Soule manages to find a really nice balance between action and romance. More importantly, the dialogue feels characteristically human, unlike most romantic comedies or action movies you would watch. The book loses a Nugget only because they don't explain the necessary backstory for new readers, like I had to. Something that is only really 2 issues deep shouldn't need explanations since more than likely new readers are jumping in, but this one requires some previous knowledge to fully enjoy. I'm staying put on "Superman | Wonder Woman." I'm curious to know what direction this story arc will go. Issue #3 was fun. There was a lot of action. It seems to be building up to even more conflict upon the arrival of Zod's love interest: Faora. We shall see in the next issue. Read Full Review

This is still the Superman book that I prefer reading. It is also the Wonder Woman I prefer reading. Soule is writing a strong beginning to the series and this issue is great as well. The relationship dynamic keeps you in your seat but the art team is what brings it all together visually. This is the team up that Batman/Superman should be jealous of. Read Full Review

Everything about this issue brought me back to the days of "Infinite Crisis," which are some of my favorite 21st century DC times. The heroes were working together (even though, they sort of aren't), there was a real heart at the core of the issue, and familiar characters and ideas were handled in new and interesting ways. In many ways Superman/Wonder Woman #3 sets up the next set of challenges for Superman and Wonder Woman. However, it doesn't do so in a way that flows evenly. It's like a garden hose with a few holes in it. But this issue succeeded in establishing the dynamics between Superman and Wonder Woman. This is not like their respective relationships with Lois Lane and Steve Trevor. This is a relationship that is maturing. It's not an ideal romance and would probably make a boring romantic comedy. However, that's exactly why it's so compelling and why the relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman has the kind of depth that makes it stronger than any relationship that doesn't involve vampires. With a subplot about the perfect Christmas present for Superman -- which comes to a slightly predictable but still heartfelt conclusion -- "Superman/Wonder Woman" #3 even gets in a little extra bonus for tying into the time of year that it was published. When you look at the main cast of the book and the characters that it pulls in, "Superman/Wonder Woman" almost feels like a member of the "Justice League" family rather than an offshoot of either Superman or Wonder Woman... but without feeling the need to tie into "Forever Evil." For those who aren't interested in the crossover, this might be the substitute title they've been looking for, instead. It has a strong grasp of the DC Universe, it plays with some of the major icons, and it's well crafted. That's a winner in my book. Read Full Review

So there is a lot of stuff in this issue that I simply have a hard time with. The odd characterization of the main two characters is the biggest. But the lack of investigation on Zod's appearance on Earth also was glossed over. I will again say, I am loving the art of Tony Daniel here. Beautiful. Read Full Review
