GEIGER #8 will set hour shorthairs on edge when Geiger and Nate enter an idyllic town unaffected by the ravages of nuclear war. Geoff Johns successfully creates an uneasy atmosphere, with a town that may or may not be on the level, and the guest art team's output is stellar. Geiger #8 continues the journey of our rag tag group of protagonists, well setting the table for whats to come. This issue and series have really hit its stride and has become a truly epic tale. Issue 8 is for all intents and purposes a story build/connector issue, but it still gives you some top tier stories, well moving the plot and suspense for next issue and beyond. Plot
Geiger, Nate, Zig Zag and Barney arrive in the intact town of Grover's Corners, where Beverly, Carol and Ronald were born and live. In this place trapped in time there is food and all the comforts of the time before the nuclear explosion, apparently its geographical location in the form of a valley protected them from the radioactive winds and can only be accessed through a tunnel.
The children's father receives them with respect, but punishes the children by burning all the books they brought with them, the desire of the community leader is to forget what the past was like so that they do not reborn a humanity that eliminates itself with bombs.

Well written and drawn. Not a lot happens in this issue, but it has some cool dialogue and themes. Looking forward to the next issue.
Still fun and engaging eight issues in. To me it's like Ult Spider-Man, just slow and steady with quality dialogue and superb character development. I hope everyone sticks with it for the long run. The whole fahrenheit 451 thing was a fun addition.
It's not very eventful, but it's a good read.
My biggest concern about the direction of this comic recently is the use of various more original stories from the past. The mass burning of books during WW2 , the Book of Eli , the burning of comics in the 50's along with the many districts of the Hunger games with a little of Divergent thrown in as a side dish.
I loved the first 5 issues but it really is starting to tread others stories way to much and is starting to loose it's own brilliant identity. Hopefully the team can get it back to a more modern version of a culture Clint Eastwood film but I'm rather doubting it just now.
