This was perhaps the weakest issue of the event, thus far, but there were still a few effective moments glittering amidst the rubble. Read Full Review
Werneck and Morales deliver fantastic art throughout the issue. Both visual styles complement each other perfectly. Read Full Review
The X-Men do not hear a final bell as their last stand vs. Orchis continues! Duggan balances the dramatic atmosphere with big moments. The art team of Werneck, Morales, Valenza and Lanham give readers much to enjoy with strong visuals leaving a lasting imprint heading into the next phase. Read Full Review
Fall of the House of X #3 is easily the best issue of this X-Men crossover thus far. The story had a much more focused presentation. This helped make the war between the X-Men and Orchis have its maximum impact. The spot this issue leaves us increased the curiosity of how things will turn out when all is said and done. Fall of the House of X #3 finally leads to the conclusion of Orchis versus Krakoa, and while that feels good, it has some questionable narrative decisions. Read Full Review
At three issues in, Fall of the House of X has become the antithesis of the House of X miniseries from which it takes its name. Where Jonathan Hickman insisted that all other X-Men titles end before he began his run to ensure that House of X (and Powers of X) were the sole, singular X-Men narrative for readers to focus on, Fall of the House of X feels less like a story in itself and more like a highlight reel of events happening in the handful of other Fall of X stories that are running simultaneously. Mutants vs Fascists is a more compelling premise for me than Mutants vs tedious DBZ power creep AI God Final Boss. This single issue is fine all around, but the broader story that it exists within just isn't fitting together as well as it could and the experience suffers because of it.
This is still a bit disappointing, in my opinion, but I also don't think it's a bad comic either. It doesn't really help that Werneck only does some of the art here as opposed to doing all of it like in the last two issues. Hopefully this series, and the Krakoan era as a whole, can have a strong landing.
Art: 3.5/5
Story: 3/5
Total: 6.5/10
Disappointing and just generic and bland. This reads as if Gerry Duggan gave up and went home early so he is recapping the event for me. What a waste of time. How is Jordan D. White letting this ship?? Art is passable and a waste of time and money. Shame because this is making sure I never pick up another X book after the Krakoa era ends. At least I have Al Ewing/Vecchio and Gillen/Silva giving a 120% to finish this thing PROPER!!
Last page was interesting. The rest felt so generic and bland.
