HOW TO FIGHT YOUR DRAGON! While a new representative of Krakoa hits the international stage, the Marauders find themselves face-to-snout with He-Whose-Limbs-Shatter-Mountains-and-Whose-Back-Scrapes-the-Sun, FIN FANG FOOM himself!
This issue was a little bit uneven, but the emotional heft of the story, and the lovely art, carry the reader through storm and through calm. Read Full Review
It's time to hit the high seas again at last as Marauders finds some of the fun that it started off with so many issues again, in an issue that also feels overly stuffed with plot elements it's trying to churn through as quickly as possible. One can't go wrong with a big bombastic man of ice versus an alien dragon as the action centerpiece, brought to vivid life by the wonderful art team, even if some of the rest of the issue falls a bit flatter. One of the things I happen to adore about Marauders is how it lets stories and characters breathe, fleshing out the small details in characters' individual arcs while also creating compelling intrigue in Mutantkind and Krakoa's political dealings and relationships. Marauders #26 is a brilliant example of this, as while it doesn't move a larger narrative or story forward, it presents so many smaller yet no less delightful moments throughout that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Marauders #26 is an okay experience that only nudges the needle by introducing Leland to Krakoa. It's also a story that only comics could get away with as we witness an outlandish fight between Iceman and Fin Fang Foom that really didn't need to exist, but now it does. Iceman fans rejoice, as you get to see him go off in a big way. Read Full Review
So underrated. This issue was just amazing on every front, story, art, etc. Makes me said this run comes to an end soon.
A fun one-n-done high seas adventure that just highlights how I wish more of this series was focused on it's initial premise.
This was a pretty fun issue, and that's about all there is to say about it.
So nice to see more of Harry Leland and Lourdes Chantel. I would gladly read a book just about the Hellfire Club with Frost, Shaw, Leland and Chantel.
Iceman's new powers on display are a little ridiculous even for an Omega.
The parts with Emma, Harry, and Shaw were good. The other part, I could do without.
Good art dumb dialogue.
The depiction of Leland & Shaw's friendship was a delight in an issue that's otherwise just more aimlessly circling filler. I want to love this comic, but at the end of the day it feels like Duggan had a great idea that he never figured out what to do with and he's just been stalling for time for the last couple years. Maybe the last issue will convince me, but I'm not holding my breath.
Iceman vs Fin Fang Foom. Why? That whole scene felt like filler. Leland was the more interesting part of the story.
Gerry Duggan thinks his "Krakoa has a whiskey distillery" idea is endlessly amusing. Gerry Duggan is sorely mistaken.
Substantive critique: Not enough content. This is 2 weak B-stories padded out to make a very weak imitation of a comic. I don't think the character work on Harry and Lourdes is all that impressive if you're not looking at it through rose-colored hindsight-glasses.
Another boring white man representing krakoa
Filler fight
Bad art
