Despite the few nit picks I had, this comic is very, very good. The art brings the characters to life, creating a creepy and cool version of Venom that I would love to see more of. The interaction between Peter and Aunt May just might bring about a new status quo for the Spidey-verse that hopefully remains intact after Peter returns as Spider-Man. Yes, Peter will return whether or not you prefer Otto in control. There is too much money invested in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie as well as the Spider-Man cartoons to keep Otto in control for much longer. That fact aside, this is a great book with a unique insight into a character who was nothing more than a crazy scientist a few years ago. I wouldn't just buy this issue, I would recommend pre-ordering the next one as well. Giving an issue full of entertaining development, some really great use for the Venom symbiote and some rather impressive art, this issue provide a rather fun experience that should please fans aplenty. A nice chapter before the eventual conclusion of the story. Read Full Review

With this arc building, far too quickly, towards the double sized issue the next time around, there is a whole lot going on here. I loved seeing Octavius really coming across as though he's in control and feeling alive and powered up like never before. You can see how it's letting him cut loose a bit more than he usually does as there's more anger and he flares up quicker, so there's no surprise there that he's not fully in control nor aware of just how much of an impact the relationship with the Symbiote goes. I definitely liked seeing this twist happen and what it can lead to, as well as the immediate fallout with May and MJ but also the fact that he's still wholly protective of Anna Maria. There is quite a bit of exposition in this issue and Ramos manages to make those scene not only interesting, but darn right exciting at times. Darkest Hours is turning out to be one awesome thrill-ride. I really love what Slott, Gage, and Ramos are doing here. Superior Venom has a great design, and you'll be on the edge of your seat finding out what he's going to do next. The Goblin story finally weaves its way into the main story, and you'll get pretty pumped for the next issue, especially after a big reveal page where we find out who's jumping into this series next. Yeah, this whole aspect of Superior Spider-Man is the one thing that I have to willfully suspend some disbelief to go along with – but it's not that hard, because the rest of the book has been so entertaining. Things are getting ugly right now, though, as the friends and family of Peter Parker are throwing down the gauntlet, and Otto doesn't ever take that well. Humberto Ramos is going hogwild, as his exaggerated, hyperkinetic art style is perfect for tentacled goo-monsters like Venom. It's hard to gauge the full impact of this issue until we see what Slott and Gage are building to, but I'm optimistic. With the Green Goblin mucking with Hobgoblin's business, Venom rampaging and the Avengers stepping back in, we seem to be leading to a gigantic clusterfudge of epic proportions, and it's time to brace ourselves for more controversy from the Spider-squad. Any one who's continually reading The Superior Spiderman will be quite pleased with issue 24, we get a lot of action, and a lot of fleshed out story that we may have been missing before. The issue does have its weak moments, though; Ock's unhesitating acceptance of the symbiote plays out too quickly, and the subsequent shift of his mindset from Venom back to dealing with issue's in Peter's life is equally abrupt. Abrupt, but not impossible to accept, as Slott and Gage make the issue so entertaining in large part to the amount of content they cram into it, that such transitions are forgivable. "Superior Spider-Man" #24 featuring the Superior Venom is a very enjoyable and thrilling issue, typifying what Slott has delivered since taking the character into such unexplored territory. Superior Spider-Man #24 is a great issue. I have been looking forward to when the new wall crawler would encounter Venom and this was a great chapter in the arc. Parker's relationships in his personal life continued to evolve and were affected by the symbiote's presence. The Green Goblin and his army made moves and continue to lead up to "Goblin Nation" (the game changer that will follow the conclusion of "Darkest Hours"), and we got Superior Venom!! There were only a few battle scenes in this issue and that is a downfall because I want to see what the Superior Venom can really do!! Read Full Review

Writer Dan Slott continues to make this one of Marvel's funnest books, even though the material at times takes some dark turns. Slott is building something big for next issue and the upcoming months. The Goblins make a bold move towards one of the book's major supporting characters, “Peter's” personal life is closing in on him, and the ending looks as though it's setting up a conclusion packed with guest stars galore. This may not be the best issue to jump on board with, but it is yet another solid issue in what continues to be one Marvel's consistently best books. Read Full Review

Overall, anything with Venom can make for a fun time. This was a cool take on Otto having that power and it will be interesting to see how it ends in the double sized #25 issue. Hopefully the Avengers can come in and start helping Peter make his true comeback, but only after Otto ruins his life with the goblin war. Read Full Review

But unfortunately, this issue has its problems. Despite Christos Gage co-writing, the dialogue frequently seems to emphasize Dan Slott's worst qualities in terms of heavy-handed dialogue and a general lack of subtlety. As usual, the book is just too crowded with characters and plot points, despite relying on Superior Spider-Man Team-Up for some of its back-story. The scenes don't transition very well from one to the next, and there's an overall sense that this book is just moving too rapidly in order to set the stage for "Goblin Nation." Read Full Review
