X-Force #30 is a satisfying chapter to a new story arc that fully utilizes Deadpool and the comedy he brings. Juxtaposed with Deadpool are a deadly serious Kraven and Omega Red, making for a great dynamic worth exploring further in future issues. X-Force continues to show how to maximize entertainment. X-Force #30 keeps doing what this book does best. It has some great character moments, an intriguing story, and stunning art. Setting up Kraven as an enemy of mutantkind that X-Force has to deal with is inspired and comes right out of left field. All in all, Percy, Gill, GURU-eFX, and Caramagna do a great job with this one. Without a sense of humor or any clear thesis, X-Force appears to be twiddling its thumbs and reaching for C-list villains until its most interesting characters return. That's unfortunate because there's plenty of unmined and undefined value to be found in these pages. Read Full Review
Omg I love this issue! Logan continues to realize that things aren't what they appear to be. After what has happened in the sabertooth book, the visions of the future in legion of x and all the shady things beast has been doing being questioned I think this is a huge moment. It'll be very interesting to see what happens with kraven and Omega red. Deadpool adds a fantastic layer of comedy that I loved. This book made me come up with so many possible scenarios I couldn't be more excited to see what comes next. Imagine if wolverine teamed up to expose Xavier and beast and reveal why they been acting the way they have. I love it!!!!!
I love how this issue is pretty much the X-force team just going around and asking themselves "does this still have a point?"
As Beast says in the book, it's a transitional issue, and new dynamics in the team are being formed. Deadpool does most of the talking in this issue, which is probably the book's greatest weakness since he seems to talk to the detriment of other characters getting a say in things. The issue also slowly builds Kraven up as this arc's main villian and I believe it does this well. The art is fantastic, really crisp and clean. Looking forward to see how the new team settles in together.
I wish we got a little more follow-up on Kid Omega here, but I'm thinking we will at some point. I do think Percy wrote Kraven pretty well here and I'm interested to see his role in the series going forward, even if it's just for a few issues. Something I do want to point out is that, as I've been writing my most recent reviews for this series and for Percy's Wolverine series, I just fully realized that this was advertised as a tie-in issue with Judgment Day. Now, I did read this yesterday, but I don't remember any of this having to do with Judgment Day. I don't really care all that much since I would have read this anyways, but I feel like it shouldn't have been listed as a tie-in if it wasn't going to have anything to do with it, unless Imore
"Judgment Day tie-in" my ass: there's no link to the event.
Anyway, good issue with Deadpool "mentoring" Omega Red and... Kraven?
Deadpool's hijinks are infecting the whole team/title. The art's pretty great and the humor's good -- extremely absurd, but good. I'm not sure that this arc will be able to go full-on comedy, though, or to strike a good balance between wacky and serious.
LOL IDK, this book is a lot for me.
The pacing for this one is really off though, I get what's happening but it would be more satisfying if the events were set up better and clearer.
Love, love the artwork but Percy needs to organize his stories better.
Nothing really happens in this issue, which is a shame considering you read a story for stuff to happen... I wonder if they'll take on Stilt-Man or Shocker next.
the mutant cia book added deadpool and is doing a kraven arc. what an absolute failure to deliver lmfao
The Kraven part has potential, but Deadpool, especially in his most silly form, is not for me. Why do they dress Sage like 90s Jubilee?
This book will make some happy, but unfortunately, it was a large miss for me.
(Also, why is AXE on the cover, but there doesn’t seem to be a connection?)
If you weren't already reading this boring, unpleasant little book but were going to pick it up for the crossover, I can confirm for you this issue isn't even a "red skies" part of the crossover, it's just a regular issue of X-Force
