This was a fun issue to have for fans of Batman Superman and Earth 2. It's easy to jump into for new readers who have no clue what's going on. While it pleases readers who enjoyed the first four issues as this feels like a sequel to that story. I recommend those you dropped the series to come back and pick up Batman Superman #12 as it looks like more things are on their way with Kaiyo causing trouble. What does it mean, in general, that Kaiyo ... a chaos demon ... thinks our heroes are poised to cross some sort of line? It sort of sums up my issues with the New 52. Anyways, I like that Pak has them act like heroes, even being sentimental a bit. I thought this was a decent issue. I certainly liked the Superman scenes with the Kents and saving Helena. That is who I want my Superman to be. But it didn't seem to have the same weight as past issues, especially the Jae Lee ones. Read Full Review

BATMAN/SUPERMAN #12 is an issue that tip toes the fence between “Sweet!” and “Meh”. The writing by Greg Pak in this issue shows flashes of a very interesting story arc, one that you should stick around and read if you've been a fan of the series thus far. The feeling that this issue was a rushed filler becomes even more apparent when Ken Lashley shows up to pencil the last four pages, and starts right in the middle of the big climax. Batman and Superman are climbing to the top of Darkseid's machine and just as they near the summit, everything looks different. But one page later there is a giant explosion, so maybe they were hoping no one would notice. Lashley's art does have a bit more of a darker, shadowy vibe to it, harkening back to the Lee drawn issues, but suffers from the same odd facial contortions. Superman's scrunchy face aside, the sequence where he saves Huntress from the exploding Batplane, and fades back into intangibleness as she plummets into a boom tube is hands down the best looking page in the whole issue. This issue had its…issues. The artwork wasn't particularly for my taste and the story seemed a little pushed. There is one thing to expect when reading a Greg PakBatman/Supermanstory: there will be heart. This is what, in the end, redeems this issue. Unless you want a recap of Earth 2 #1 or an issue with bad art and an inconsequential script, pass on Batman/Superman #12.  This issue is pure filler and if you skip it you will miss nothing, but you'll have $3.99 more in your pocket.  Hopefully, the promised "clean slate" for next month makes me forget about this issue.
