Justice League #36 is a very enjoyable issue, really kicking off this new arc the right way. The story here is good so far, the writing is well done from beginning to end, and the artwork from the new artist is fantastic looking and really brings out the best in this comic. So, powerful preparation and deep themes. But the Darkseid War looms. The conflict between Bruce and Lex deepens and grows ominous as Lex warns that he will see the day that Bruce fails a loved one. Justice League #36 isnt a return to form for the series, its the creation of a much better format. Its a story that embraces the genre to which it belongs and discovers a natural sense of pacing with that change. Even though its told with an aesthetic that I generally find displeasing, it is difficult to fault Fabok. He composes the action and figures very well in order to tell a fun superhero story. Regardless of decompression, however, it looks like for Justice League, the disease might be the same as a cure. The past two issues have shown a newfound focus and panache that this series has desperately needed since the Trinity War and Forever Evil arcs. While I have a man crush on Ivan Reis's art and have yet to find a bad panel of his, that's the most I can say favorably about this issue.  His art really set up a great isolated feeling when we stepped into a quarantined Metropolis and all our favorite characters looked great, but the story just lacked and I couldn't get into it.  Amazo Virus exposition and Batman and Superman looking for someone....... That's about it.  Hopefully next issue will pick up the pace and make the Amazo Virus a story to remember. Read Full Review

In a collected edition, this lingering chapter won't stand out so much. But judged as a single issue -- since that's what readers are being asked to purchase it as -- it's not up to par. Fabok's art is great, but Johns' story is not moving at the pace it should be just yet. Now that the setup is over, hopefully things will kick into high gear. The Amazo Virus gets off to a great official start (last month being a prologue) with Justice League #36. This issue is a lot of exposition, with Luthor trying to justify why he created the virus in the first place. It's a more dialogue heavy issue, but it's well done. Geoff John's script is excellent, weaving a gripping story that, while set-up for future stories, is still good set-up. But to me, the star of the book is new regular artist Jason Fabok. His interiors are fantastic. Every panel is drawn beautifully, with exquisite detail on everything from buildings in the background, to Superman's kryptonian armor. Everything about this book works, and works well. This issue comes highly recommended.

Wow, first off, Fabok's interior art is absolutely gorgeous. His Wonder Woman is something to behold. The story itself is mostly exposition this month. We listen to Luthor's dubious explanation about why he had the virus in the first place and the city of Metropolis is in peril, which makes for some interesting drama. Besides the the trinity of Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman, it looks the rest of the Justice League are out of commission. I don't know what the time gap is between the Amazo Virus and being Jokerized as in the current Batman Endgame story but the immune systems of the Justice League members are taking a humongous beating. I've been on this book since the first issue and I have no intention of stopping now. Definitely will pick up #37 as long as Geoff Johns continues weaving interesting stories. The character now known as Patient Zero should be interesting to face. more

Fabok is the best thing that happened to this title in a while...

Amazing art, great story.

Art was stunning. Story has a lot of potential.

It's completely flawed to assume there is a surviving patient zero; just because the virus evolved into an airborne strand in that victim, that doesn't mean he/she wouldn't still die from it like everyone else. Aside from that bizarre leap in logic (from Lex no less), this is a good issue to check out. This is a difficult situation to combat as a superhero, you can't just punch a virus away, so it will be interesting to see what happens next. As many others have commented, the art is the best part of this issue by far. The other disappointing thing is that Johns has, once again, skipped the action that knocked the Justice League out of commission. It's like Forever Evil all over again. It would have been a lot more interesting to actually witness the Justice League fall victim to this virus one by one, rather than just talk about it. more
