DC Comics News - Max Eber Nov 20, 2014

This is surprisingly restrained in the right ways, same-old same-old in a lot of other ways, and a lot better than what I'd assume it to be at first glance. Johns is no way doing anything new here, virus narratives are a dime a dozen, but the staid approach is working and as such, he's doing it rather, well, solid. While it's not completely my cup of tea, I can't ignore the individual work gone into this, other mainstream comics should aim to be this well rounded if they're not going to aim for any type of stylization. I prefer super stylized, but if they can't be, they might as well look like this. Read Full Review

As one of DC's flagship books, this is a franchise renewed, and one of the first team stories in a while that indicates we will be guessing and suckered in every inch of the way. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Jordan Richards Nov 19, 2014

Justice League #36 is a very enjoyable issue, really kicking off this new arc the right way. The story here is good so far, the writing is well done from beginning to end, and the artwork from the new artist is fantastic looking and really brings out the best in this comic. I'm more excited than ever to see where this arc takes us and I'm hoping the quality doesn't dip from here on out. Read Full Review

Good Kind Of Geek - Nikki Yuan Nov 20, 2014

Overall, this is a great issue that opens up a great arc. The story is great, and it gives Lex Luthor a conflict on a person level. Fabok's art style is great too, and it continues to give the series a great look. Can't wait to see where the story is going to take us to next. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Jesse Kennedy Nov 20, 2014

With fantastic art and interesting story lines, The Amazo Virus arc is off to a terrific start. There is enough going on in the issue to justify the $3.99 price tag in my mind. I'm curious to see where Johns takes the Trinity+Lex in future issues. Thumbs up. Read Full Review

Weekly Comic Book Review - Loukas Nov 24, 2014

So, powerful preparation and deep themes. But the Darkseid War looms. The conflict between Bruce and Lex deepens and grows ominous as Lex warns that he will see the day that Bruce fails a loved one. Power Ring waits in the background. The Amazo Virus could be a story of significance and lasting impact. But one suspects that, like a fever dream, it will dissipate as soon as the virus passes. Read Full Review

    IGN - Jesse Schedeen Nov 20, 2014

"The Amazo Virus" is off to a promising start. While this first chapter does get a little mired in exposition at times, it offers a clever new take on the Amazo concept and a conflict that hits Lex Luthor on a personal level. Jason Fabok continues Justice League's high visual standard with clean, detailed, emotional pencils that perfectly capture the sinister vibe of the story. This looks to be a very fun ride. ComicBook.com - Chase Magnett Nov 20, 2014

Justice League #36 isnt a return to form for the series, its the creation of a much better format. Its a story that embraces the genre to which it belongs and discovers a natural sense of pacing with that change. Even though its told with an aesthetic that I generally find displeasing, it is difficult to fault Fabok. He composes the action and figures very well in order to tell a fun superhero story. This is exactly what most people would expect from a comic about the Justice League and proves to be surprisingly refreshing. Read Full Review

    Newsarama - David Pepose Nov 19, 2014

Regardless of decompression, however, it looks like for Justice League, the disease might be the same as a cure. The past two issues have shown a newfound focus and panache that this series has desperately needed since the Trinity War and Forever Evil arcs. The formula to making Justice League work isn't hard - you put DC's best and brightest superheroes in the same room and have them team up against a bigger threat. By putting the spotlight back on the team - where it belongs - Johns and Fabok are quickly making this book the A-list comic it deserves to be. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Eric Shea Nov 19, 2014

While I have a man crush on Ivan Reis's art and have yet to find a bad panel of his, that's the most I can say favorably about this issue.  His art really set up a great isolated feeling when we stepped into a quarantined Metropolis and all our favorite characters looked great, but the story just lacked and I couldn't get into it.  Amazo Virus exposition and Batman and Superman looking for someone....... That's about it.  Hopefully next issue will pick up the pace and make the Amazo Virus a story to remember. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Greg McElhatton Nov 20, 2014

In a collected edition, this lingering chapter won't stand out so much. But judged as a single issue -- since that's what readers are being asked to purchase it as -- it's not up to par. Fabok's art is great, but Johns' story is not moving at the pace it should be just yet. Now that the setup is over, hopefully things will kick into high gear. But for now, it's not the overwhelming blast of excitement that I'd hoped this issue would bring. Read Full Review
