The book shipped a week late but don't let that mess you up. The DC reboot did a lot of good things, but it did leave some things to be desired among fans. With Marvel producing four different Avengers books, it's fun and exciting to see the other super team find its wings. I think with the next couple of issues we are going to see a lot of great story with Darkseid and the Justice League. I am excited to pick up the next couple of issues. Every issue should make you excited to pick up the next issue and I am glad this one did. Something I loved about this issue was the art and great action. I only thought this issue had some minor problems, but was a great read and great addition to this series. Look, Justice League #5 is still a fun ride, it just doesn't offer much depth -- or, better yet, the depth it does offer is suspect -- and the artwork lacks consistency and feels lazy at points. But I have to admit, I'm still a sucker for the Justice League fighting Darkseid. I always will be. And for that, Justice League #5 was worth my money. Read Full Review

I feel like there's some journalistic need to keep following it, at least until this first 'here's how we got together' arc mercifully ends, but this series isn't good. As you can see, I'm a little conflicted here. The slow pace, clear predilection for writing for the trade, and the high pricetopage ratio are definite turnoffs, but it's not all bad. Jim Lee's art is terrific (even if I didn't really mention it at all above), the action is solid, and there are some genuine character moments buried underneath it all. I'd say if you can swallow the ridiculous price, then why not? Otherwise, waiting for the trade is the way to go. They way this thing's getting written, there can be no doubt that one is coming. Speaking of my dumb adult brain; only 4 instances in the entire book where a DC Comics ad didn't take up 1/2 of the whole spread and the back up is still as useless as Wonder Woman is to the league (seriously, why is she even on the team?) Up to this point I was enjoying Justice League but Justice League #5 has me considering dropping the title. The issue as a whole was a complete miss with me. Geoff Johns has completely dragged the first story arc of DC Comics flagship title to its maximum. Add to the fact that outside of Batman and Green Lantern the Justice League members have not been fully developed it makes this series hard to get behind. I will be giving the next issue a chance but I now have my expectations extremely low and it will be the deciding issue for the series staying on my pull list. Read Full Review

"Justice League" in general has had an extremely up-and-down first storyline, and this one is further proof of that. However, I'm growing less and less sure that “artist” Jim Lee (and I use that term loosely) is capable of putting a panel of the Justice League together that doesn't look completely half-assed and photoshopped. This issue is terrible. Cyborg is a character that nobody really cares about. The conflict becomes overused and boring. Jim Lee's artwork really is terrible. The plot, art and everything else in this comic is down the drain. I'm trying to like this series, but issues like this are making it hard.
