    All-Comic - Erik Gonzalez Oct 29, 2015

Tie-in comics are usually lackluster, but this creative team is an exception to the rule. They showed that a single, self-contained issue can be potent and passionate. Hopefully, this group will work again because the end result is impressive. Its possible to read this without being up to speed in Justice League, but it is highly recommended to start there. This is a comic Batman fans will enjoy and deeply appreciate. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Terry Miles, Jr. Oct 30, 2015

Peter J. Tomasi takes the helm on the writing duties. I enjoy the way he writes Batman as a fierce guardian dedicated to his mission. It's how he appeared in Batman and Robin, and in Tomasi's Batman: Arkham Knight. Read Full Review

Overall, I thought the creative team gave us a solid one shot that has me even more interested in other one shots as well as the next issue in the main Justice League title. Read Full Review

Of course, my only complaints are the following. One is Batman rather sits all the time than doing his awesome martial arts stuffs that we are all so familiar with. In short, he is becoming a rather boring fellow to watch if not for the great storytelling execution of Tomasi and the incredible artworks led by Pasarin. And second, the concepts of "pre-emptive strike" and "omniscience" are nothing novel altogether. Actually, I feel like watching Minority Reportwith Tom Cruise in the bat suit (pun intended). Remarkably this is a temporary moment in Batman mythos. But other than these imagined flaws, this tie-in is overall an excellent chapter for the company's current The Darkseid War maxi-event. Tie in issues can often fall wide of the mark and end up as not much more than a marketing ploy. This is not one of those issues. It gives us a fantastic insight into this incarnation of Batman. His weaknesses and his dark-side (get it?). Read Full Review

This Darkseid War tie-in sets a good standard for the rest of the mini-series to follow. It serves as a logical extension of the main storyline, filling in gaps and delving deeper into Batman's new status quo. It does such a good job of replicating the tone and look of the main series that it could just as easily be a chapter of The Darkseid War proper. Don't skip this issue just because it's a tie-in. Though maybe not the best stand alone story without context, Justice League: Darkseid Wars Batman #1 is a great read. The idea of a god like Batman is fantastic and script and art direction were entertaining from start to finish. I would have loved to see more of a tie-in with the previous issue of Justice League, but enjoyed seeing God Bat kick some ass, nonetheless. Read Full Review

So basically this is the same story that has been told better before. Batman ignoring the judicial system and passing his own judgment was much more interesting but that felt like a side story to Joe Chill. Read Full Review

    Newsarama - Richard Gray Oct 28, 2015

Justice League: The Darkseid War: Batman #1 is but a small vignette in a larger epic, and is to be continued in the Justice League run, yet it is also one that mostly works outside of the confines of that saga. It would be very easy to see this as another set of tie-ins to an overblown event, but instead this is a rare time where the opportunity is being taken to explore the impact a major twist has on the individual members of the League. It's not a bad story at all, but it's difficult to work up much interest in an all-knowing Batman. Solving mysteries is more fun when they're done the hard wary. Read Full Review

DARKSEID WAR: BATMAN was interesting, to say the least. It really delves into the mind of Bruce Wayne and what he'd do with absolute knowledge. There are some moments that are a little bit of a head scratcher and un-Batman-like, but it's hard to make a final judgement on that because we don't know what the Mobius Chair does to the people sitting in it. Overall, this is a nice addition to one of the best Justice League stories in years. Read Full Review

Good Kind Of Geek - Nikki Yuan Oct 29, 2015

This is a fun issue that looks upon what Batman will be like as a God. It really pushes the story forward and I'm glad DC decides to publish these one-shot spinoffs. Batman's encounter with Joe Chill is both interesting and problematic. However, the ending Joker tease seems very promising and I can't wait. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Reggie Hemingway Oct 28, 2015

Once again, Peter Tomasi shows that he can write Batman from any angle and do a great job, he really seems to have a connection with the world of Gotham City that few others possess. This is a story about Batman being omniscient and somewhat all-powerful; you don't need to have beenreading Justice League to understand or enjoy it, though a rudimentaryunderstanding of Metron and the Mobius Chair would probably be helpful. Therewas a game-changing reveal that was probably only game-changing to a selectfew, but this story is mainly about how the Mobius Chair turns you into apompous, yammering jerk. They should call it the cocaine chair. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Oct 29, 2015

"Justice League: Darkseid War: Batman" #1 is the first of a series of one-shots which follow the Justice Leaguers-turned- New Gods. I'm not sure the stories are necessary, but they do provide a nice bonus outlet to the "Darkseid War" story from "Justice League." The effects of their newfound powers would most likely be lost in between the packed panels of the main title, but -- in specials -- readers can selectively consume more of their favorites. I won't be getting all six of the comics, but "Justice League: Darkseid War: Batman" #1 is a nice read with a smart creative team. It might not alter the flow of the "Darkseid War," but it certainly does offer Bat-fans a chance to see how Batman tries to avoid the absolute corruption inherent in absolute power. Read Full Review

The Hub City Review - Matthew J. Theriault Oct 29, 2015

There is little in this issue that is novel; it is a classic tale told better elsewhere. But in an age of remakes, reboots, and re-imaginings, this also is a story worth experiencing again from a slightly different perspective. Readers should be so lucky if all the one-shot tie-ins to The Darkseid War prove up to the same caliber. Read Full Review

This is a solid tie in worth the read, but you can also pass over it. If you're a huge Batman fan, I recommend it. It explores Batman's mindset when it's set to its very extreme. I still want to know if any of theses stories really matter in the long run, but they are fun so far. Read Full Review

I give this a read mostly because I don't know how it fits into the otherwise excellent “Darkseid War” as well as Batman's story as a whole (though it's super unclear how this all ties in to Batman considering that series' current story). Not a bad comic, I was just hoping for something more. Read Full Review

    Comicosity - Aaron Long Oct 28, 2015

Overall, I found this issue to be a mixed bag. The storyline spent a long time lingering in areas that didn't intrigue me much at all, nor did it have any kind of massive impact like what we've been witnessing in Justice League. There were aspects of the story that entertained me and the artwork is solid throughout, but I can't shake the feeling that this comic felt like a missed opportunity and an unnecessary tie-in to a mega event that had been flawless thus far.
