"House of Brainiac" has been thrilling at every turn, and now it's time to land the plane in Superman #15. That was always going to pose a challenge, but the brilliant team of Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, Alejandro Sanchez, and Ariana Maher prove to be more than up to it, delivering a finale that effectively closes this chapter of Brainiac while also setting up a promising new status quo for the Man of Steel and his supporting cast. I have enjoyed Joshua Williamson's run on the character and this Brainiac arc has been pretty engrossing. I think it has nicely showcased the new world order that Williamson has made - villains as allies, family as phalanx, Brainiac as universal threat. Does this closing chapter stick the landing? The answer is mostly. Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler Jun 28, 2024

Superman #15 concludes the House of Brainiac storyline. Sadly, the finale doesnt really redeem Brainiac Queen or the motives behind why Brainiac went to all this trouble to create her. However, we do get epic art from Rafa Sandoval from start to finish this time, and the character writing for Superman, Lex Luthor, and everyone else is still top notch. While the story doesnt exactly stick the landing well, its not a terrible finale, and it has enough of a wholesome ending for Superman and company. Read Full Review

Probably a bit higher than it should get but I give the bonus .5 as this is Williamson's first event he has ever landed right! It didnt fall apart at the end, was solid impact and even had a little of that 'what makes superman superman' moments when he whisper 'Every battle is real.' That was such a great line.

Also I could gush over the artwork but I will keep it simple. I love the line work by Sandoval. Its good, like really good. The eyes in a couple of panels are not 10/10 and the final Lex face is funny but overall they chose a really really good artist for this event it was that much better for it. Great work!

All in all an enjoyable event with lots of action, some great superman moments, a really fun team-up pa more

Yeah..... overall I got to say this is my favorite Superman event of all time, surpassing Superman Reborn and just below Death of Superman. The art, the action, the pacing all works for me. I like how Superman didnt just punch the villain to smithereens, but everyone had a big role to play. The Super family coming in to help Superman, and Lex Luthor deactivating Brainiac's ship was well-done. I am interested to see how this plays out, I actually thought Brainiac and the Queen were interesting. Overall I'm excited for Absolute Power and how Joshua Williamson will play out hte rest of his Superman series.

A pretty good conclusion to House of Brainiac. Glad to see that Brainiac Queen is going to do more. I completely forgot that Absolute Power was coming up after this. Speaking of which, I am interested in the cliffhanger here with Lex, so I hope Absolute Power doesn’t get in the way of that.

A pretty satisfactory conclusion to a pretty satisfactory story. Like the rest of Williamson's run this has been worth the ride. He did well for his first major arc. I wish the final page left me with enthusiasm, but hasn't Doomsday been done to death by now? Like Bane he's looking more and more like an enemy who just got lucky once. I'm sure Williamson can do a decent story since he just gave the best Brainiac one in over 2 decades, but Doomsday is really now just a monotonously overused enemy who should really have never returned after a single rematch. The more often he returns the more unimpressive he gets and it's harder to believe he once succeeded at killing Superman.
I'm not bothering with Absolute power, as I washed my hands more

I think that Brianiac was pretty stupid during this issue. He lost his whole strategic 12th-level intellect somewhere along the line. I guess all he needed was love. That was pretty cheesy. It has some good action and the artwork is great. When Superman saved Colu, where did he put it before it went to the Brianiac metal planetoid?

Overall this was an alright read with pretty ok art. And while I won't be in a rust to read this again any time too soon, Williamson surprised me with this one. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to.

I'm really not sure how I feel about that last page cliffhanger. while the intrigue may be tantalizing, i honestly would have preferred this reveal show up later closer to when this upcoming plot point will start. I just really dislike when stories never have just a nice solid conclusion.

This event was fine. I feel like it was built on ideas that weren't all that engaging. What makes Williamson's Superman fun is the character dynamics, and that is all but lost in the sloppy coalescence of action and overly-exposited complications seen here.
