Williamson is one of the DC writers who has no trouble coming up with big storylines involving multiple heroes. It was great seeing his take on so many characters as they face one of the biggest threats to the DC Universe in years. This installment of Superman is an ideal look at how all the Absolute Power tie-ins should cover the event. Read Full Review
Superman #16 is the perfect tie-in to the Absolute Power event, with impeccable story telling and an exciting team-up. This is a must read for anyone reading the summers biggest event. Read Full Review
I was pleasantly surprised Zatanna's involvement didn't revolve around, what I feel is, the obvious reason to showcase her. Even with it being a tie-in, the story has the potential to still stand on its own, and the ending Lois reveal was fantastic. Read Full Review
Wallers biggest blow in her attack was mortally wounding DCs symbol of hope. Superman begins his redemption story with a solid opening chapter. Williamson juggles multiple characters with excellent writing and pacing. Campbell constructs great action along with emotionally driven moments for a chapter that shouldnt be missed. Superman #16 is the perfect follow up to the events of Absolute Power #1, as it reminds readers that the Man of Steel is in a rare position: powerless and running out of allies. But the best stories aren't about putting your hero in danger; rather, it's how you get them out of it which makes the wait for future issues all that more tantalizing. Read Full Review
Superman #16 is one of the strongest tie-ins to Absolute Power by showing a ragtag group of heroes slowly coming together to mount a counter-attack to Amanda Waller's coup. Williamson's script gives you plenty of action and surprises with the atmosphere of a world at war, and Jamal Campbell's art is super-great. Read Full Review
We have seen these suits in SuperCorp since the book started. Lois wouldn't be one to just sit back and watch the world be destroyed. This makes sense. And it is a solid cliffhanger. So overall, not a bad issue for what it was, an event crossover. But this is what crossovers should be ... solid enough to stand on their own but enmeshed enough to bolster the event they are in. Really well done "catch your breath" issue. Watching them try to handle Superman's situation while struggling to save as many heroes as possible makes for a tense issue where not much action actually happens. And it as really well drawn too. Very good issue.
Barring the event aside, I think this was a nice issue. The opening start was cute and heartfelt, Zatanna by Campbell is great, curious about the dark roads, and Waller is just annoying.
If Waller gets obliterated and removed from DC's toolbelt for a decade it wont be long enough. DC editors must be in love with this C class villain which is annoying.
But back to the art, CAMPBELL IS BACK! Oh how I missed his art. This was a great issue. When I think of this run of Superman, I think of Campbell and his art. Great work as always.
Overall, beautiful art, great story. Looking forward to the next issue.
Only grip about the art, fishnet stockings do not rip like that. Like the way the binding was drawn more
Jamal Campbell is back so the art is masterful. Nice tie-in, i enjoyed the Zatanna team-up.
while its not as good as the previous issues due to it being an Absolute Power tie-in, it is still solid. And seeing Jamal Campbell back is a treat
A solid start to this Absolute Power tie-in storyline. I'm glad to see Zatanna being used and I'm interested to see her side of the book with Clark going forward. I wasn't incredibly into the part with Jimmy, Siobhan, and the Luthors, but I do think it has some potential. In any case, it's great to have Campbell back on the art duties.
The issue and art are generally good, but I abhor this event overall. It just makes no sense. How can robots steal alien DNA and give it to themselves? How can a robot steal magic? See, it just doesn't make any sense. The original Amazo simply duplicated powers by scanning the abilities of others. I'm just going to continue the runs of the comics I'm not continuing anything with this event.
