The DC/Marvel partnership soars to new heights with the release of Superman / Spider-Man! So many incredible creators contributed to a series of stories that felt both timely and timeless. The main adventure, “Truth, Justice, and Great Responsibility” (creative team of Mark Waid, Jorge Jiménez, Tomeu Morey, and Tom Napolitano) was the perfect way to showcase the best attributes of our favorite heroes in red and blue, and it was pretty amazing to see how well both the heroes and the villains played in a shared universe. Fanlight Zone - Ken M.

Two iconic heroes deliver an instant classic of superhero storytelling. Waid’s writing elevates each heroes strengths. Jiménez and Morey even out the intense action with great personal moments. It lives up to its’ much hyped debut. The back-up tales vary on direction but some felt disconnected in being more than a forced timeline displacement. At the very least, they compliment the main event in some fashion. Comic fans should will have something special to enjoy with this edition. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Chad Burdette

Having Mark Waid pen the anchor story for this issue hits all the right beats from the first panel, setting the tone and standard for the rest of the issue. Per usual, Waid does agreat job of dropping readers into the story sans exposition, making the conflict feel natural and that the characters from different publishing universes co-exist without resorting to the usual crossover event tropes. ComicBook.com - Justin Epps

This book isn’t the most experimental crossover, but it understands Superman, Spider-Man, and their respective supporting casts. The creative teams clearly have love and appreciation for both franchises, and while it isn’t perfect, it gives readers something fun and different from Spider-Man and Superman’s usual routines. If you’re looking for a fun comic that doubles as a tribute to two of the best heroes in superhero fiction, this is the crossover for you. Read Full Review

Super Hero Hype - Matt Morrison

    Mar 25, 2026

Overall, Superman/Spider-Man #1 is a must-read for any and all superhero fans. With the exception of one story, all these beloved characters are true to form, artistically and in terms of writing. Even if the teased continuations in this collection don’t get spin-off series, this will hopefully lead to more DC/Marvel team-ups. Read Full Review
