The spectacle of the series is by far the artistry of Sorrentino, bringing into existence the insanity Lemire puts onto these completely unhinged scripts. From the beautifully rendered depictions of life to the mind-bending landscape from within the Sinclairs haunted black barn, Sorrentino delivers some of his best work to date. As the series is set to air on television in the future, the overall positive responses to the title bring hope for a rich story with longevity from this fantastic duo. Read Full Review
Gideon Falls remains a captivating and engrossing read. It's one of my favorites to get sucked into each month and as the secrets unfold I'm more and more hooked into this massive, haunting story. Read Full Review
Gideon Falls started with the compelling premise of a haunted location known ominously as the Black Barn, and as we learn more about the terrifying reach it and its envoys have, it's hard not devour each monthly issue. Gideon Falls is the kind of story that crawls inside your head, makes a fetid nest and decides to breed. Good luck trying to un-see this one. This issue works as a starting point, so jump in here or go back to the beginning. Either way, keep the lights on. Read Full Review

Gideon Falls#12 shifts the focus of the book to a new time and place in more ways than one. This may seem like a restart at first but clearly, the approach here is much bolder and well executed as anyone in this series would expect. Sometimes in order to move forward, you need to first go backward. It appears Jeff Lemire is telling us that in order to understand the Black Barn, we need to go back to where it all began. While a part of me is admittedly disappointed at having to wait to find out what happened with Norton and Father Fred, I know we'll get there in time. It's what I love about Jeff Lemire; he's constantly imbuing a sense of confidence that everything will be ok. DO NOT ENTER THE SPOILER DIMENSION BY READING THIS REVIEW! IT IS A TREACHEROUS PLACE!
THE GOOD:
-This is everything I want.
-Lemire does a great job of making this story not feel like filler.
-Andrea Sorrentino is just an incredible person. Everything about his art shows that he's a man who strives to pour his soul into every panel.
-Oh man, that page with the Laughing Man was just so perfect. It was terrifying, gross and well-written, all at once.
-This series is getting into alternate dimension territory, and it's doing it so perfectly. This might be the best example of alternate dimension storytelling I've seen.
-Only Lemire and Sorrentino can make two whit more
Just really cool, twisted and spooky and neat.
This was really great. I love the design of the laughing man. The art here is astounding.
If you're not reading this yet...please do so.
