"ALL OUT WAR," PART 5
The war comes home.
It isn't smart, it isn't preachy or deep, and it isn't a feel good book. What makes me keep coming back is the incredibly successful drama that Robert Kirkman continues to tell. Read Full Review
This is a great issue that makes up for the sins of The Walking Dead #118. It is re-setting the story and pace for All Out War after it lost a little bit of steam. With eight issues left and an enemy at their doorstep, you will find yourself dying to know what is going to happen next as the war continues and the victor is uncertain once more. Read Full Review
The Walking Dead continues to please any readers that are jumping on board due to the television series but those that have been reading it from the very start especially more. I'm not really sure how anyone can doubt this series or quit watching after how great this issue was. I can't wait to get my hands on the next chapter of the All Out War story arc. It has become one of the most memorable of the series. Read Full Review
The Walking Dead #119did a good job of balancing character and dialogue, while continuing to move the war plot forward with plenty of action. Emotion mixed with mayhem. I liked it. We're clearly in the middle of the war. I also liked that I didn't see things going this way. I thought that the war was going one way and they took it another way, for now at least. The best part may have come at the end. I did not see that coming either! I can't wait to see what happens in the next issue! Read Full Review
But again, the pace picks up again as the two warring groups come to a head once more. Despite all of Rick's recent victories, Kirkman proves this is still a conflict that can and will turn on a dime. The issue reaches its climax on another tense showdown between Rick and Negan, culminating in one of the better cliffhangers in Walking Dead history. And that's saying something. Read Full Review
It's not fun if things go too well for our survivors, and the issue reminds us of that. Read Full Review
As per every issue of the Walking Dead that Adlard has been a part of since issue #7 is second to none, with the help of Stefano Gaudiano again on the inks making the big splash page reveals pop out of the page. Read Full Review
The artwork is the usual detailed and dramatic presentation. The story has a lot of characters that are in various states of mourning and the art captures that well. When the confrontations occur near the end the artwork adjusts appropriately. This art is very consistent and definitely enhances the story and helps the pace of the book. Read Full Review
All Out War continues to progress slowly, but the suspense and excitement that Kirkman creates keeps it very interesting. This issue would also show some outstanding developments and I for one can't wait for the next issue. Highly recommended. Read Full Review
Another solid entry in the ‘All Out War' arc with another gripping cliff hanger. Thankfully image chose to bring this arc out bi weekly because every week the story just gets better and better and I can't wait to see what happens next. Read Full Review
An interesting twist and a change in the dramatic flow of the War. Definitely entertaining… Read Full Review
Overall, we can ultimately be happy that we have more of The Walking Dead now that the holidays have passed. With it being back on its biweekly schedule we won't have to wait too long to see what happens after the great cliffhanger on the last page. I'm giving The Walking Dead 119 a 3.8/5 Read Full Review
Issue #119 gives us more or less the same stuff that we've been accustomed to in The Walking Dead. Sadly, there seemed to lack anything tangibly genuine to take away from this issue as it's hastened and generic plot didn't bring much integrity to actions of the characters. It felt like we were rushing to get to the bigger and more important reveal towards the end of the book. Kirkman has a lot of ground to cover and it regrettably shows in this issue. Thankfully, the last five pages of this issue elevate your pulse and give you the jaw dropping moment that reminds you why you're a fan of The Walking Dead again. Read Full Review
Kirkman has something huge planned for the end of this arc. That much is clear, exactly what it is may be beyond me, but I have a few ideas. Were not done with the reign of Negan just quite yet, and Rick is bordering on a heavy losses here. Next month well see a lot of casualties and the book will be better for it. Read Full Review
A typical issue of The Walking Dead, but average ain't too bad for this title. Read Full Review
Overall, "All Out War" has been a mixed bag. Other than the fact that TWD is double-shipping, there's nothing exciting or new or different about the comic. Negan certainly is an interesting character to watch, but when he's only in the last three pages, it doesn't really matter. If you recently caught up to here, reading 100 issues in the past month (I know people who have), then I understand how this could be great. For those of us who have been reading for six/seven years or more, it's getting to be the time to put the foot down. Read Full Review
Over all, this is a solid issue that serves the overall story well, but like I said, the general flaws with this series as a whole lessen the impact. It LOOKS as if next issue is going to be the equivalent of The Governor attacking the prison, so expect a bloodbath and a climax (FINALLY!!!) to the Negan storyline. I hope. Read Full Review
With an expedited release schedule for this event, we won't have to wait long for the next issue. The Walking Dead #121 will be out in two weeks. Hopefully Rick has a plan for dealing with his surprise visitor. Otherwise this could be the beginning of a string of awful, terrible things about to happen. Read Full Review
Great issue. Despite the ramped-up publishing schedule, the quality hasn't suffered. Surprisingly, Gaudiano's inks haven't affected the look and tone of the art--it still looks like standard Adlard work.
The ending--I did not expect that. I had several scenarios going through my head about what was about to happen, and I was wrong on all accounts. Kirkman's still got it.
I'm enjoying the fast pace of this event, both in terms of the release schedule and the storytelling itself. I did not expect a retaliation from the Saviors so quickly. I'm glad I have the next issue in hand, because I can't wait to see what's next.
While this issue does have a strong last page, the rest of it is the typical blabbing. Even the art has suffered, with big googly eyes at times. They need to back away from 'biweekly issues' and go back to monthly, for Adlard not to take the blame. The extra pages give it a boost. "All out War" is a good example of how bad this title has gotten.
